Warped Rotors -- Any Chance Getting them Repaired Under Warranty?
Warped Rotors -- Any Chance Getting them Repaired Under Warranty?
I know this has probably been asked a thousand times before, but without the Search feature, I can only manually search so many pages back....
My 2k2 GLE (bought in December '01, now with 27k miles under moderate to at times heavy driving) has some pretty serious warpage -- very nice judder when braking, esp. at high speeds etc., so I figure the rotors need to be replaced.
Question is: I know rotors are a wear and tear item, but is it normal for them to need to be replaced this early? If not, do I have any shot at getting the dealer to replace them? I know, it depends on my relationship with the dealer, but the manager I used to work with left, and I don't know the new guy too well. Is there any legal or TSB-related reason that this should be covered?
Thanks! (BTW: Shouldn't this be in the FAQ at some point?)

I've had the problem since 13,000 miles on mine. Dealer blew me off even with TSB in hand. They are not obligated to cover it just because there is a TSB. It appears that resurfacing them won't help anyway since there will be less of them to absorb the heat that caused the warpage in the first place so they're just going to end up warping even faster. TSB only calls for resurfacing, not replacement, IIRC.
