Terrible, Terrible gas mileage... whats up?

The last month or so, my gas mileage has been unbearable. I have an 02 max, with 37k miles on it. I recently swapped intakes from a Frankencar to an Injen. And I haven't been riding hard. Would the intake have anything to do with it? I've checked for leaks, and it's all on tight. I'm currently getting from 180-210 miles a whole tank, and thats with the gas light coming on! And I've also gone a whole tank without actually getting on it, and I got 227. This is unacceptable, with the prices gas is now. I'm also using premium gas, from 6 different gas stations, all with the same results. What should I check guys, I just got a tune up 2 months ago.

Thanks in advance.

Kind of coincidental that your gas mileage went to hell after your tune-up, huh?
Sounds like you should be talking to whoever gave you your "tune-up."

Could be many things. I was getting about 10-12 mi/gal, until I changed my spark plugs. My mileage is in the 20's now.

Make sure all your connections on the Injen are tight. Also, post up what they did for the tune up.

I dont understand why you got a tune-up, on newer cars all they really do is change the spark-plugs, maybe a plug is gapped wrong or a wire is loose. Also try putting the stock air intake back on and see if it changes.

Dayam!! Maybe my 3-liter manual will get better trade-in value vs the 3.5 liter cars when gas gets to $3 bucks later this year....

R U running with your A/C on??

Lowest I've ever had on my mixed city/back roads commute was 277 miles to the gas light coming on, average is 305 to 325, highest was 382 miles driving up to Seattle for the Northwest Nissan meet -and that was not a slow caravan....

I had average of 18-20 Miles to a gallon with most local and some highway driving, and this was when my SES light came on (3 bad O2 Sensor)

After I had it replaced my gas miles went up to 22-25 miles to a gallon.

I just had a tank where I got 31.15 mpg, but let me tell you, it was painful to accomplish. Driving 65 on cruise on the highway in 6th gear for a couple days on my 150 mile round trip commute to work (all highway).

I've got the details on this post:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....2&goto=newpost

Where I'm taking data on peoples mileages so I can come up with an error factor on our trip computers.

Thats a good idea and see EXACTLY how the hack the MPG computer on our cars gets the reading?!

I never look at the MPG computer anyway, I just reset the trip meter everytime I fill up gas and next time I get gas I use this equation to get a more accurate MPG. (Trip meter/ Gallons fill up= MPG)

I one time got 400miles from a whole tank, this was achived one time:

*During breaking period
*shifting at 2200RPM everytime
*95%highway @ 65MPH (No traffic at all) 6th gear
*Only use Premium gas
*Drove until GET GAS light turn on, after it came on I drove another 20miles to the gas station
*By this time DTE(Distances till empty) reads 15Miles

It was scary, i thought I'm going to be pushing car or something....I would never do it again..
