I like the compass that comes with the SE version. However my GLE does not have one. It only comes with the auto dim feature. I was wondering if I were able to buy the SE version of the compass, can it be installed/replaced on the GLE? How hard is it to remove the rear view mirror?

 

It wasn't available for the GLE. Not all SEs have it. Only the Titanium Edition SEs have it. All I can say is that it's a nice option added.

 

You can get a compass rear-view mirror from eBay for $50-$100 that will fit your Max. Any mirror with a wedge-type mount will work on your car. Since you already have the wiring, replacing the Rearview mirror is easy - all you need is a star-type screwdriver.

I put a Gentex model 170 mirror (from a 2002 Camry) in my 2001 Max SE in about 5 mins -- the wiring harness was the same for the compass vs. the auto-darkening mirror
