It's part of the fuel pump assembly located under your back seat.
Nissan claims it does not need to be replaced under regular maintenance any more.
There was one or two on the org that have, but they said it was quite difficult.

Need to remove the rear seat bottom. Then remove the access plate. Then run the car with the fuel pump fuse removed and let the car die. This will make sure no more fuel is in the lines.

Then disconnect the two fuel lines (one if you are 2k2-2k3). Then remove the 6screws at the top around the ring.

Then lift out the entire unit, be careful because the fuel level float is part of it, you have to pull up and tilt sideways to get that float to clear.

Then you have the entire assembly in your hands. Need to basically disconnect that small plastic hose going to the bottom of the assembly. Just disconnect it from the bottom, you will see it, its the only black hose like thing running down the assembly.

Then basically pop the clips on the side in so that you can basically separate the top portion from the bottom, it wont completely come apart because of the fuel hoses there in the middle. I would just cut the hose coming from the fuel filter since you wont be using it anymore. Then disconnect the fuel pump harness.

Then basically pop out the fuel pump from the bottom out of the fuel filter assembly, and replace it into the new one, and reverse.

Yes this is a messy and smelly project. Dont do it in your garage closed.

Youre right spirillis, this gets asked a LOT. We really should get a mod to sticky that or put it in the FAQs.

Fuel filter's probably worth the trouble after 100K miles IMHO. Even if you pay a dealer to do it.
