Speed limiter????

I am convinced that my car has a speed limiter at 149.

It never seems to matter what the conditions are or how much power the car makes or what size tires I have on the car. Once it sees 149 I feel an instant power loss as if someone threw a switch.
Im not condoning that any of you attempt this or try to prove/disprove that your car suffers the same fate.

That's moving for a Maxima. Don;t know what hp upgrades you have but its going to be hard to go much faster with these cars w/o significant hp increases. My 6 speed pulls hard through 4th and then 5th gear seems to loose quite a bit of steam. Since it takes so long to accelerate after 130 or so, that's all the faster Ive gone in it.

Don't you have some mods, like Headers, SAFC-II and do you have a 6speed too?

Haven't noticed the speed limiter because I have never gone that fast but I think mine has a time limiter, just don't seem to want to go under 12 seconds.

If there was a limiter, wouldn't the computer cut the power causing the rev to drop and bounce?

What you need is a TechnoSquare ECU... It will remove that nasty speed limiter that we all have to deal with on our daily rush hour commute to work... man it sucks that you can't go past 149...

currious what are the RPMs at with 149MPH on the speedo ? Mine runs out of Revs in 5th, I have a 17" V-rated SE ECU program in my GXE ECU which has not speed limiter on it. I know for a fact 6K RPM in 5th on a 5th gen 3.0L is 150MPH on the speedo...redline pegs the needle to 160MPH and it won't go more. DE-K motors are great for top speed runs with our top end power.

The autos (most) have a soft limiter at 130mph.

No one here to my knowlege with a 6 speed has ever complained about a speed limiter. I have the only one that I have ever heard of in this car. And it isn't a fuel cut limiter, it's a throttle cut limiter.

I know some to claim to have seen 155 and some have done 157 on the dyno. Perhaps they don't have the same limiter or their throttle doesn't cut enough to kill the speed on the rollers.
All I do know is that the car gets there pretty quickly now and I can actually feel the cut in power.
I do want to get the TS ECU but for this reason it's really pointless. I never havea real need to drive that fast it's just that some very rare times I get the chance and want to see where it will top out at.

Keep in mind that this is still pretty dangerous in a few different ways so Im not encouraging any of you to attempt it.

I agree with Qmax03 on this. Mine reached around 147 and the speed dropped
down to approximate 110 before I was able to pickup speed again.

The fastest I have ever taken my 03 auto was a GPS measured 146.96. The speedo, however, read 160. After donating my ECU to technosquare, they told me that there is a limiter at 154 mph (this is what was written in the software) on the automatic. I was witness to another member pulling 157 on a dyno, so I guess TS really did get rid of the limiter. The reason he only pulled 157 was that his tires began to overheat and smoke. Next time I go to the shop, I hope to see what my car can do top speed wise in 4th gear.

Wow I must be one of the few Autos that has a throttle cut at 130ish showing on the speedo. Guess its just an NC thing, Now when I had the TS ECU it was gone. Haven't went that fast since getting the ECU back to tell if its still there. Maybe its an NC thing

I've got the same limiter...GLE model and all. Found out the hard way on my way to Virginia Beach

Your not alone on that one. I had a flat, straight, 4 mile stretch of road. Damn thing just didnt want me to go more than 130. Very disappointed in my car on that one..... But I am sure there are ways to fix that one...
