Transmission hesitation/slipping

Anyone have trouble with their automatic transmission on a 2002 Nissan Maxima (SE) hesitating in the morning when it is cold. Once warmed up it does not do it.. It is like it is kicking out of 3rd gear or getting stuck..revs high and then goes back up after a few seconds..

Thanks in advance

No, I have not experience that, but I would recommend you check the ATF level. ATF expands as it warms up, so I wonder if your tranny is a little low in fluid. Also, these trannies seem to work better with a good synth ATF (Mobil 1, RedLine D4, Amsoil). You may want to look into replacing the ATF with the synth fluid of your choice.

well just put it this way.. would you be able to start running right when someone wakes u up.. or will u be doing better after a little bit of warm up...

hesitation is somewhat normal when the engine is cold thats why you wait a couple of minutes to warm up..
if the problem still persists after the car is warmed up for a litle bit... do Redline Tranny Flush and clean out your throttle body...
if it still persists take it to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty

If you haven't changed the fluid yet you better do it now. I just flushed with Amsoil and the fluid was brownish and the magnets in the pan were covered, 22k miles at time of flush.

Take your car in to the dealer, there is a problem with your tranny and its not because of operating temperature. Mine was acting simlilarly one morning and my car was warmed. THe problem was a defective Valve Body.

Thanks it is at the dealership right now..Had the 30k done already so I new it wasn't the fluid..I have never had hesitation when cold until a week ago..of course they can't get it to produce the hesitation right now..

Will let you all know what happens..trying to get the brake judder done also but they say it was only for the 2000 Nissan Maxima. not 2002 years..

Thanks

Well, i got my car back today and from what i cant tell. the slipping seems to have gone. it does kinda pause for a slight sec before shifting (i think thats normal) my alti seems to do it a bit too. but it's not the long drawn out slip that it had before.

However, I AM ****ED!!!!!

i stroll up to drive away in my car and theres a baseball size ding on the rear door. im like WTF is this!!!!!!!!!

i told the service writer and they are gonna have one of those paintless dent removal guys come out and fix it wednesday...but it's just such a shot in the foot when you think your car is going to be complete again and you get something like this.

i really wish people would be more careful. i guess since it's not theirs they dont care.
