navigational system
navigational system
I have been looking all over the internet for a oem navigational system for the 2k2 max. Im not having any luck. Since i can't search the forum, i hope this is not a repeat. If anyone has any idea as to where to get one and how hard it would be to install it would be greatly appriciated.
On an unrelated note. What is the best way to get some torque? Its all about 0-45 .
Peace

OEM Navi Blows
The OEM Navi sux. Its so old-school. It's CD Based - which is ridiculus - you need like 11 CDs for the whold country of something like that.
I would definately forget that whole idea - if you want NAVI - go aftermarket.
Before i totalled my max - i bought a whole lot of stuff - planning on eventually going navi when i came up with the cash, but returned it / sold the parts b/c i'm not messin around with anything on my new car.
First - call Dave B @ South Point Nissan, and pick up a vent trim/radio kit for like $90 - definately worth it.

It's the two air vents above the radio, which extend down to where the radio is in our cars now, with a double DIN opening.
Next - go to crutchfield.com and get yourself the Kenwood DDX7015. ( HERE ) Its verynice, and also the only Double DIN Touchscreen DVD Receiver which has a screen that is flush - like a factoy radio. Kenwood also makes a DVD Navigation system, which can be used as an add-on component for this receiver.

I personally think this is the best way to go. Trust me - i checked out every possible angle for navigation b/c i wanted it that bad. Lynnes Nissan Parts Dept. wanted i think $4200 for just the receiver. -- Ridiculus I know. Thats when i thought of going aftermarket, and after a lot of research - this is what i found to be the best option.

If you go the Kenwood route you end up paying close to that anyway for navigation. $1500 for nav unit, $1400 Double-Din unit

How is $2800 close to over $5000?
It's like half the price, and a better system if i might add. I was very disappointed with the fatory Blose option. For a package that i probably paid like $2000 extra for in the car -it sucked compared to other Bose systems that i have heard in the past.
For example - I just bought a 1998 Lexus ES300 with factory standard sound system - not Nakamichi System, and compares to my 2003 Maxima SE - there is no comparison - the factory lexus is 1000 times better than the Bose.
It's clearer, more crisp sound than the Bose, and i did a little research, and the speakers and anp are all Pioneer.
Since when is Pioneer supposed to be better than Bose?
Anyways - my point being - get the kenwood, keep your existing speakers - kill the factory amp, and add a few 10s in the trunk and your set!

Exactly my point - Unless you will be replacing the factory NAVI setup with this aftermarket setup - then the climate controls have nothing to do with the radio!
Climate controls are a separate unit below the factory stereo, so if you remove the blose (Clarion) headunit, and replace it with a Double DIN kenwood DVD, and the dash kit, your climate controls will still be there, right below your radio like they have always been, and always will be.
As I'm more familiar with performance mods than ICE, I have a question: my stock system is non-Bose (non-Navi, accordingly) so, if I remove the stock HU and replace the faceplate with the navi-faceplate I can install this Kenwood (or even dbl DIN Eclipse HU)???

so the nav unit/screen would fill that hole with the climate control under that like this?
thats PIMPIN!!!

Check out BMW or one of the others even the 3 series won't put that in there.
You are wrong about that, they are used in all Mercedes BENZ since in the early 90's S500, CL, sl, G class, etc. I also know Bose system are used in Audi,Ferrari-Maserati, Porche, MAYBACH Cadilliac, etc.
I know bose suck that why Acura put the Panasonic DVD- audio in their new TL and MB used a HK system in their new E- Class like BMW.
Okay let me retrack that statement. I've seen Bose in the higher price cars but as standard packages. When you get loaded I see Harman Kardon, Alpine and others but I've had yet to see a Navi or something high end on the BMW or Benz that still holds the Bose name
