What are everyone's feelings on the JL audio Stealthbox for the Max? The wife as given her permission to buy one , and before I do, I want to know peoples feelings on it. Is there enough bass? Does it sound pushed to it's limits to get a good level of bass? I love the W6 line they make, and am pretty sure I'll like it, but just want to cover the bases first.
Thanks

Love JL

All I can say is JLAudio rocks...I Have them in my car most of my friends have them, I even have their interior components. :-) If you don't mind the fact that you will have a speaker everyone else has (and loves) then go for it. I think if amped correctly you will be very happy with the sound.

My installed a 10W0 in my wifes Kia....

Sounds great. And I used to install the W6 woofers a while back when I did installs. My main concern is that one in the back corner won't be enough. I trust JL, just want some opinions. Thanks for the input....
BTW, how did the cable install go?

i'm not too sure about the stealth box. but i have two twelves in a custom box i built myself that fits perfectly in between the rear shocktowers inside my trunk. the woofers are fired inot the cabin and all the gaps are sealed completely with that magical roll of silver adhesive tape (duct tape), but if u want to spend more money on something better you can use sound deadener material. either works. this get rid of trunk rattle. but it's good to seal off the gaps from the box to the cabin and trunk. this way no bass leaks out too. the effect you get is raw bass. i like it that way, but some don't. many would suggest you to fire the woofer towards the rear of the trunk or the top so the sound can resonate a bit making the trunk as a secondary box kind of thing. if you build a box that fits perfectly inbetween your rear shock tower you wont take up that much space. jl 12w6 or just the w6 line up in general require lil air space thus you can use a smaller box. if you like tighter bass then u can make a smaller box if not then build it to the JL specs. shoving the box inbetween the shocktower also saves you a few bucks on a rstb. (the box can withstand the pressure)
well i hope that helped. but as far as your original question, although JL does manufacture boxes (stealth boxes) for their own speakers, i don't find it as good as a custom box. a few of my friends have ported boxes built by JL but they don't seem to be as sealed as the box i built and the woofers don't sound as well. it's not the amp because i've hoooked my PG up to their subs.

Everything went OK

Cable company sucks, but the car stereo is all re-wired and happy :-) I have to tidy up some stuff inside the car still, but I was so exhausted by the install and had to get things ready for my parents arrival that I kinda slacked off with it. I am getting back into the swing of it now :-)

Thanks to you Delio I got inspired.

I've been doing some reworking on my car as well. had a custom trunk lid panel made with my Clarion x-over mounted flush So when you open the trunk you can adjust it at eye level, a new cover for the amps, (cleans things up alot!) and next Sat, I'm moving the jack and installing a cap in it's place, as well as building a new floor with a hinged cover for the spare tire, (as well as the jack.) I HATE that stupid little cardboard thing they use to cover the spare. You can't put crap on it before it sags. ;(

I wish I had a digital

Dude, I made a whole new floor for the trunk and cleaned everything up quite nicely, I am going to be mounting the JLAudio X-overs for my rear speakers on the rear deck lid, and I have tons of other nifty stuff done now. What the car needs more than anything is an interior detailing, but I just haven't had the time. Plus I still have some neons and stuff that I need to wire up inside the car. I am glad I isnpired you, but I was inspired by alot of other people here to undertake this task. It is the first time I have ever wired up my own system from end to end and it was awesome, if it weren't for some of the support from the people here I would have paid out the @$$ for another crappy install at a different place.

I'm redoing the color from the factory charcoal...

To a semi-plush black carpet. Should look really good. Only hard part will be covering the two plastic side panels with the carpet. I found an upholstery shop that said they can do it. I really wanted them in black vinyl but they said it can't be done. Ohwell. ThenI'm planning on covering the stealth box in the same carpet to match. Should look su-weet!

If I was going to have a message, why would I put N\M in the subject?
