95 SE 5-speed, ecu has same manufacture month and year as car.

I get 1005, egr vacuum solenoid valve. This exists as a ghost code. It is always there when I pull codes, even immediately after I reset the ecu, but it does not trigger the CEL. I replaced the solenoid valve, but the ecu still stores the 1005 code. Iansw gets the same code with his JWT ecu.

Interestingly, this same ecu used to give me a CEL and a 0707 code due to my test pipe, but JWT must have programmed the ecu to ignore the rear O2 sensor, because I never get it now.

 

1997 se 5spd, 0505(knock on wood it stays that way)

The ecu is a 96...was produced in 3/96.

 

Late make 1996 SE 5 speed. JWT ECU modified ECU using a late make 1996 SE 5 speed, no codes.

From what Ben and JWT told, it's critical that you get the same make ECU you plan to modify. He also said that some earlier 95 ECUs can't be programmed and that some later 1995 ECUs will throw codes.

If you're running a 96 ECU on a 95 or a 95 ECU in a 96, you're going to have a ton of emissions codes. The 95s Maximas, for the most part, do not a majority of the emissions gear the 96+ 4th gens had therefore the incorrect ECU will throw fits.

i have a 95 technosqure ecu on my 98 for about 2 weeks now with a cel i havent checked it yet but will today i will post back with the codes

 

I got a '95 JWT ECU in my '96. Only got one code so far: 1205, line pressure solenoid valve. Whatever that means.

 

pulled the codes 0304 knock sensor 0401 air temp sensor.the knock sensor i replace not 2 long ago so cant be right and i remember some1 sayin i might get a 0304 code with the upgrade

 

I bought my ecu used and it's from a 95 5 spd and I'm a 95 5spd, and with in a week I got a **** load of codes. I got camshaft sensor, knock sensor, crankshaft sensor, egr valve or solenoid. And I've been fixing as I can and I have it down to just camshaft sensor and egr valve now. What's the deal why did it go from nothing wrong to like 5 things in one week??

Ben (BS King) says he couldn't program my 4/95 (ie. later 1995 Model Year) build maxima's ecu. Sent me one from 1996 (and doesn't know what happened to the one I sent in). Said at the time that they will have a software fix in 6 months. 6 months later, he said they will have a fix in 6 months. Not really an issue though.

FYI, I tried the technosquare ECU supposedly from a 1995 max and got about 6 codes... many for specifically pertaining to auto despite my car being a manual tranny.

 

Yeah now the ecu is down to two codes. The 10-05 is one it's a ghost code just like he said above. What the hell is that and how do I fix it. I'm getting so stressed. I have cut nuckles from the knock sensor, and broken pocket books from both lol. I still get check light for the camshaft sensor. I'll reset it and it'll go away for a while but it alway's has the 10-05 code on it. And when i crank the motor start it give check light for camshaft sensor.? What gives

 

So are you all using ECUs that you purchased seperately from your car? I ask because I just sent my ECU in to Technosquare and it's the original and I really don't want to have to deal with a constant CEL or ghost codes.

I installed my technosquare ECU (as well as changed a bad knock sensor) that I got from another member this weekend. He has a 96 Automatic SE, and I installed the ECU on a 96 automatic GXE. I drove it with no problem but yesterday (a day after install) I get a check engine light. Everything runs fine and there is no problems at all.

The code is P1446 or 0215 (I believe that was the code)

EVAP Canister vent control valve closed.

I was actually just searching on here to see if I should fix the problem (I recall Ceaser saying that his mechanic told him not to fix this problem because it would make his car slower.) Now I think that it might just be a result of switching the ECU's. I was actually searching to see whether or not I should fix it when I came across this thread.

 

Still searching and came across and interesting point. For you 96 Maxima owners it is possible that you can have your EVAP canister and O2 sensors (as per another members post) changed under a recall if you qualify.

I unfortunatly did not, just have your vin # handy and call your local Nissan dealer. It may not fix the problem but hey at least you get new parts for free.

Street reeper, from what I read you're supposed to get an ECU that corresponds to your trim level. I don't really understand why that is but that's what I read.

 

Well I had another one pop up after about a week. One was a P-0446, and the other was emissions circuit fault (somthing like that, I don't have the codes in front of me.)

The first code popped up two days after me ECU install, the second about week after that.

Two days ago I jacked up my car to look at the exhaust (seemed a little loose) other than that I didn't do anything, not even disconnect my battery. The next day the codes were completely clear and no check engine light. It has been two days and no codes, strange but I'll take it. This is the second time my car has fixed itself.
