My 1997 Maxima GXE just developed this problem today, and naturally, I take it straight to you guys. For some reason, the gas tank guage is stuck on empty. I refilled it today (and my wallet still hurts), but the needle doesn't move. Any ideas what could be the problem or a fix for it? Also, does anyone happen to know a good mechanic in the Austin, TX area?

 

Had this problem a few months ago. What I did was I threw in some techron concentrate with a full tank of gas and 2 tanks later, my gas gauge was back to normal. You can use any fuel injection cleaner but BG44K and Chevron Techron Concentrate give the best results. Give it a try.
