Trade or keep my max

ok, i am having a problem making thise decision. My brother owns a 2k maxima with a vq35 with a 6 speed. He might be willing to trade it for my 96 max with a 2k engine. What do you guys think?

My car has alot of mods done to it like stillen kit, H&R springs, 2k2 brake upgrade, 2k2 rims, and a new paint job plus the 2k engine in it. It is black leather also and has a sound system in it plus the i30 interior also.

His max is not lowered, 15 hubcaps on it, 2k brakes which were mine before i traded him. no hids just AE lights, cloth interior, bose and has the 6 speed and the vq35.

I cant decide because i invested so much time and money into my car and i trade him, i will start from scratch again. But I want a stick so bad. Or maybe should I keep my max and do a 5 or 6 speed conversion to it later?

What do you guys think and what would you do?

thanks

Quite the situation. Here's why I would trade it:

1. Newer car
2. There's no replacement for displacement
3. It'd be a great project car for you to do new mods to
4. It's a stick

Here's why I wouldn't trade it:

1. I think the 4th gen is the best looking of any Maxima generation
2. You've invested a lot of time and money in your car to get it to where you want it
3. A 5spd conversion won't cost a ton; assume $1,000 for parts and another $1,000 if you have it done somewhere

you always seem like you're on the verge with getting rid of your car but you also seem like you love it. if you're itching for a different one so much, maybe it's time to bite the bullet and go for it.

buttttttttttttt, you seem to love your car so much, maybe you should just convert it because you've done so many other things to it.

make a list of the pros and cons and whichever has more, do that.

good call!

however i think he is able to do the conversion on his own because he seems like he has quite a bit of experience with decent sized projects, so get rid of the install fee.

I agree with everything THT said.
Although, I thought I read in some random thread that a converted auto->5spd still wouldn't perform the same (read: as well) as a max that was originally 5spd. I could be wrong, though, since I need to read the FAQ and IMPORTANT threads before posting a question.

My opinion: Trade.

One thing I've learned is selling a modded car is really difficult and you'll be lucky to sell your current car for anything near what it is worth to you. This a great opportunity to swap for a newer car, it's stock, and got the VQ35/5sp which is what you mainly want. Plus you don't have to hassle with all that cumbersome Auto-5sp swap in your 4th gen. To me it's a no-brainer. Remember, humans have a natural tendency to resist change because it's difficult to do. I can understand why you'd want to keep your current car, but I say swap them. I think it will only benefit you in the long run. But hey, that's just me.
