white face gauges not so bright

Just wondering how bright these should be at night. I had my odometer go out in my 90 GXE, so I used that as an opportunity to swap to the white faces. Problem is, they don't seem very bright, even when it's real dark out. When it's just before dark, I almost can't see the numbers...

I'm having somewhat of the same problem: my dimmer is up all the way, and when i'm driving the gauges get brighter when the RPM gauge goes up, I think I just need a ground kit...Also, I tried to take pics the other night for my cardomain (updated) and I couldn't get any to turn out bright enough.

Yeah, they are stock gauges out of a 91 SE, I think. I'm pretty sure the brightness is all the way up, but I'll check. Also, are the bulbs suppose to have the little rubber covers on them?

No, No. Those rubber condoms (yeah...that's what they're called LOL!) are for protection only (there you go again!). Remove them before installing the bulbs in.

DMad8724, what shape is your alternator in? Have you gotten it tested lately? That "dynamo" effect is often a sign of an alternator going south.
