THATS IF WE GET 10 PEOPLE. So if you guys want these, leave a post with name, email, and year of your car. Thanks!! AND THE MINI MEET at IN N OUT Was Sweet!

yea, its going to take at least a few weeks till the hood is made. I need to know how many people would want these hoods. Hoods are lighter in weight. Available in blk, i will check about colors availABLE, FOR SURE COLOR ONES WILL COST MORE. Some other guy who was making the hood wanted 700 a hood so this is a good deal if you want Carbon fiber.

Its gonna be hard to get commitments from ANYONE if you can't compare the weight of the OEM hood to the Carbon hood. Save a TON of time and post this info, please. The Factory hood weighs 40lbs.....the carbon one weighs?????

No guesses please.

Thanks!

Hey Wayne, Depending on when this goes down, I may or may not be in. As you know I NEED NEW WHEELS!! What's the sense in a new hood when you got S-rated tires?? Anyway, let me know when it's going down aight. Lates Matt

Yes, please post more info, and pics if possable. Also, has anyone seen those Dragon style hoods with the flared openings in it? Are those available for Maxima's. I've seen em for Honda's and Acura's.

Thanks

yo

Hey Lee,
I'm curious to who is making these kits.

last year at Nopi nats I talked to a guy name Andy from Body kits North west, who was rep'in for a place making carbon hoods.

The problem was their hoods looked unfinished compare to the couple other brands I saw. The edges were all "unsealed" and you could see all the different layers.

I'm sure they make hoods for a different car that may be you can snap a pic to let us see the quality. Pay attention to the edges and where the oem mounts would go.

Hope you get this going! I'm in for 450. Shipped would be great! It's gonna be a ***** to ship those things. A special crate has to be made. Find out how much to box & ship those things.

later.

Re: yo

Ming, the funny thing is that those Fiber Image hoods were looking at are supposed to be the best. All the Honda/Acura guys are saying that the fit and finish are so much better than the other hoods on the market like VIS, Han, etc. I wonder if we were looking at prototypes or something. Because those were pretty bad looking. I'm still debating the whole carbon fiber thing or maybe getting someone to custom make a fiberglass one w/ vents. I like the subtle look of the carbon, but it would be cool to have some crazy *** vents in the hood.

hey ming, that guy you talked to at bodykits NW is my friend andy. i talked to him months ago about molding me a CF hood, and he said they would do it if i wanted it, for around 500-ish...im still considering it, but i would rather drop the 500 on a NOS kit or something right now. all of their work i had seen months ago was nice looking.

you mention you met him at nopi nats, where was this? me and him both live in washington.

hey I'd be interested

I thought Cheston or someone else said this company they knew was making a hood a while back and then it just dropped off.
I'd like some pics and more info on shipping. Oh I have to have it by early May, before I repaint my hood.

Color carbon fiber

Carbon fiber hoods only come in the original carbon color. the colored ones you see are done w/ house of color candy shot over the hood. I have a purple carbon fiber hood on my eclipse its not hard to get what ever color you want

Not to rain on anyones parade but to spend $ 500 bux or more if you include shipping in order to shave 30 or 40 lbs (OEM = 40 less I'd guess 10 lbs for the carbon hood) off you car seems ridiculous to me. You could put the battery in the trunk and come close to the same effect IMO.

Re: Re: yo

Now there is an idea... a CAI in the hood. From what I see, to be effective the CAI should be in the leading edge, but it could save us alot of hastle. The only problem would getting the fit between the hood and the airbox just right/ real right.

What?

How the hell is moving the battery to the trunk the same as savin 30 lbs off your curb weight? Plus you get the cool look of the carbon fiber totaly worth the money.

1. When you put the battery in the trunk you redistribute the weight not loose it. Since a higher percentage of weight is up front, moving some to the back will help handling as much as eliminating a little weight IMO. Neither one will have much effect, the hood just costs alot more.

2. A carbon hood once painted will look just like a regular hood.

3. It's just my opinion that to spend this kind of money on a mod that doesn't really do anything is not worthwhile. That's all.

4. I guess if you really analyze it, it could decrease the wear rate on your hood gas shock supports.

5. Another alternative is to get run-flat tires and do away with your spare tire.

5. Anyways, it's your money, do what ever you please with it. I was just sharing my opinion that's all. No offense.

Re: Re: What?

1.My battery is already in the trunk(moved for A/W inner cooler). Moving it back would be good for road racing but it takes weight off the wheels so you lose some traction. The hood would further remove weight off the drive wheels but you would hope it would help more then it would hurt w/ proper tire and suspension set up. The hood would help in lowering the curb weight of a heavy car. In racing every lbs. counts
2.You have to paint carbon fiber w/ a candy paint.candy paints are tranclucent so you still have the carbon weave but w/ color also. It gives it even more depth. I know I painted my Eclipse carbon fiber hood w/ house of color purple candy. Ive heard that pearl clear will also give you a similar effect.
