Auto Downshift

Iv seen it before that some guy has made this thing that re-uses the cruise control buttons in order to control what gear the auto tranny is in (Manumatic I believe it was called) I was wondering if there is another way to tap into Kick Down Switch in order to control the downshift at a rolling start. Aside from the bad launch on the auto trannies another thing that ****es the hell out of me is when it doesnt downshift. There are so many times where I have raced from a rolling start and get crapped on cuz my tranny didnt downshift where as if it did i know i would have the upper hand.

If i shift into second and then throw it back into drive exactly when do i gun it? Once its back in drive and i step on it, it will automatically go down to 2nd?

Is it bad for the tranny at all to do this? Also what about if your on the highway in overdrive and want to shift into 3rd? Can you just turn off overdrive?

yes, you can just shift from 1-2 then 2-d then turn on OD, This will make you faster when racing

I just memorize how much throttle is needed for each downshift. Our trannies are really simple and this point doesn't change, just takes some experience.

i downshift/upshift on my auto all day. it doesn't make my car go any faster, but it helps me to control my car better at various speed. aka "rev matching"

i've been doing that for 1.5 years and so far no major problem.

Well downshifting at a rolling start deffinatly helps the pickup opposed to staying in 3rd and getting that sluggish feeling until it revs out further. Its too risky leaving it in drive and hoping that it will downshift to second.
