Cleaning/Replacing Injector Caps?

Last time I was getting my oil changed, the guy at jiffylube was saying I should have my injector caps replaced and it will increase my performance and give me better gas mileage. How true is this? I've got like 86k and I'm not sure the last time they were changed.

I don't know about the Maxima. I had an 87 Conquest and it made a big difference in performance when I renewed the injector caps at around 80K miles. There was a fair amount of corrosion on the electical connections. For that car the caps where around $6 each and there were only two injectors.

Yes, there were only two wires and you just had to solder them. It was very easy altho I would want to double check with someone before I did it on the Maxima to make sure there wasn't anything I had to watch out for.

The max has ONE piece injectors. Meaning, there is no replaceable parts to the injector. You replace the WHOLE injector. This is not a cheap job. The guy at Jiffylube doesn't know what he is talking about.
