Read the faqs and the HOW to's. There is a thread in the group deal forums about the MEVI and it should answer the rest of the questions.

Actually, just give up on getting a MEVI with a 98. You cannot get all the benefit out of it because you cannot get an upgraded ECU. Therefore, you cannot get a raised rev-limiter, and you will not see that much of a gain from the MEVI.

I would recommend that you save your money and get something else or wait until an ECU upgrade comes out for 98/99, if it ever does.

98 can use 96 ecus and it will work, only problem will be that you will have a cel constantly on.

Funny, I was just reading up on the MEVI...I really need to do some power mods. After seeing Krismax's 2K manifold at the meet last weekend I was inspired to do SOMETHING with the intake manifold...

All the threads I read so far were saying that it was only the 99 that there was no ECU for...now it's the 98 as well? I wouldn't go for it with the CEL...too much daily driving to sacrifice the idiot light.

I saw a thread talking about the technosquare and whether they were doing the raised rev limiter yet (they weren't)...and now looking at their website it doesn't look like they even have an ECU for 97+....so I guess this means that there is no hope for us 98+ folks who want to do the MEVI without a CEL? DAMN...flying high in April shot down in may.

yeah, that is right.....we cannot have that without a CEL.
I didn't know that a 96 ECU would work at all in a 98 though. I have heard of some of the 95/96's working in the 97's with a constant CEL, but not the 98.

Maybe they will help us out in the future, endus.

Yea I sure hope so! With all the intake manifold talk around here it's very depressing to learn that my lack of ability and/or confidence is not the only thing stopping me...I can conquer those problems but I definitely don't know how to reprogram an ECU...

I'm really surprised that there is no ECU for the car yet...and not encouraged by the fact that we're 2 generations behind current...I wonder how much of a market there would be...it might be worth getting in touch with Technosquare or JWT (from some of the threads I've been reading, probably technosquare, but either way).
