After owning my car for over a year, I finally had the front painted. The car must have been in a wreck before, because the workmanship on the paint was poor and they painted the whole front bumper cover red, then painted black over it. Rocks and road debris scratched a lot of paint off of the lower part.

except the latter spoiler will be painted Aztec Red...I just need to figure out how to replace three LED bulbs that aren't working properly.

My wife's brother works in my father-in-law's body shop and things have been kind of slow, so he painted it for me. He left the bumper on and just taped everything up. He sanded everything down and painted it with bumper paint (has a flex agent).

I believe it is a Stillen spoiler, but I am not sure. I bought it from a guy who was parting a car out on ebay a couple of months ago. Inside the garbage can are two posts that go where the original ones are. All that is different is the center light. Oh, and this spoiler is not made of foam.

 

Shoulda did it red with the side sills and lower rear bumper! Looks good though.

 

my spoiler is made of "foam" but are all the stock 3rd gen spoilers made of foam? I thought I was unique, I mean everything else on my car is sh*t....

$10 for the front part (cost of the paint).

he wants $100 to do the spoiler, but it has some scratches that need to be filled. He said the majority of the cost would be for the clear coat. I am going to try and get the LEDs fixed first, though, so it might be a week or so until I get the spoiler done.

HottAzzMax -- I believe that all the stock 3rd gen spoilers are that foam stuff, but there are aftermarket ones that are fiberglass or some other kind of material. There is one on ebay every so often that is solid and has an LED in it, too.

I don't know about the red on the bottom, Jeff. It would be something unique, but I like how the black kind of breaks things up.

 

IMHO painting over the black part gives it more of a luxury look, while leaving the black part gives it more of a sporty look.

Looks like he did a good job. Paint and clear is expensive so the $100 for the spoiler is not a bad price at all especially if he is going to do some work to it.

 

I know I am. I am selling my type II. I like lowered, kitted maximas without a spoiler.

 

you know you just wanna be like me. Of course, I know longer have a kit, but thats beside the point.........

see without a spoiler, the car looks good from any angle....with a spoiler its only good looking front a front/side angle...*sigh* see what i meant chris?

 

umm NO...well at least not in my opinion. See to me the spoiler breaks up the natural flow of the rear...especially with a shaved antenna.

Oh yeah dont get me wrong...I like the spoilers on 3rd gens especially the Type II or I wouldnt have gotten it. Originally I was going to paint it off of the car and then decide on what I want to do but I need money to finish the car so I am just going to sell it. If I get tired of the no spoiler look I can always buy another one later on.

Heh.. nope.. that's a custom mod that I'm not going to repeat. easy to make, but hard to install properly... gotta have a bump steer gauge for that one, and that's a $3-400 tool.
