*SE Owners*... Have you removed your Pinstripes??

Just wondering on what the consensus is regarding the removal of the maxima's pinstripes. If you have removed them, do you like it better? If you haven't removed them, why not? I was thinking of removing those bad boys this weekend and was wondering what ya guys think. Thanks!

Never had pinstripes. Please remove them. It's illegal to drive a Maxima with pinstripes in the fine state of NJ.

This poll has nothing to do with SE model Maximas. Pinstripes were a dealer applied accessory, and were never put onto one particular model. I took mine off, it looks much cleaner.

I think pinstripes look pretty good on Honda Accords.
I am not too much of a fan of them on the Maxima.
Mine didn't come with any pinstripes.
I would have taken them off if it had come with them.

Kind of like them on my white car. But, then again, I'm an old man compared to most of you.

Thanks Bruce for the vote of confidence. I'll be 38 next week. Maybe the wife and kids can get me a Y pipe or Cat-back for my birthday. Does't hurt to dream.

Pearl99, what you need them to get you is a y-pipe. On the catback, hold off. You can just spend about $100 or less and get you a muffler that you like. One that is not too loud if you use this for a family car, you don't want it to drone on and on. Then, just take it all to a muffler shop(minus the y-pipe....you can do that yourself) and get them to custom bend you some 2.5" piping from your stock resonator back to the muffler. Then, they will fit the muffler onto the new piping.

Then, you have a quiet, cheap setup that gets the same gains as everyone else is spending a whole lot more on.

I took them off when I installed my graphics. Even if i didn't put on graphics i'd still take them off, don't add anything to the car really

Use an old credit card to scrape the pin stripes off. Use a good car polish to remove any residue left by the pin stripes. WARNING: It's a slow process requiring a lot of elbow grease. Good Luck

I have these on but don't really plan to remove them. It's not that big of a eye sore to me.

It was something extra that was added to a lot of SE's. The gxe you have might have just had it added to help it sell. Sometimes, it is just a special request from the person that bought it new from the stealership. They will put what they have to on the car to make a deal. We used to do this all the time when I worked at a stealership. I sold Jeeps and we would always have to promise bug guards or step rails or something. It just helps the sale, and the dealer can put that stuff on at a wholesale price.

bijan, I use Mozilla so it does not allow the www button at the bottom for some reason.
Can you give a link to your homepage so I can see?
White is probably the best color to keep pinstripes, IMO.

Still got small pinstripes on my max, never looked bad to me but over the years its starting to show a bit on them so thinking about de-striping for cleaner look. And I wouldnt consider 38 old, that comes in 2 more years for you

just did it about 2 weeks ago...my goodness it looks great. i don't know why i didn't do it the second i got it

edit:when i took them off, i waited for a really hot and humid day, started from the front and slowly peeled it back parallel to the car. to get the rest of the adhesive off i used mineral spirits. after that, i just went over it with some spray wax.

Gee, thanks bro. I'm 40 and now have been told I'm old...sheesh. j/k, I am only as old as I feel and fortunately I still feel like a strong young buck.

That is what I was saying.....for some reason, Maxima.org does not support Mozilla fully and all of the buttons don't show up. The only one of the buttons that shows up at the bottom of every post is the reply button. I don't know why this is, but I like the browser nonetheless. It is so much faster than internet explorer. I mean, with IE, it takes forever to reply to something. With this, not long at all. And that is on high speed internet.

I used a heatgun (you can rent at Home Depot for $4/hr), and just heat up a section at a time while peeling it and it should take you no more than 5 mins.
