transmission meltdown. Cause?

My automatic transmission has problems.
The
Sun gear lost all its teeth and all three planetary gears are flat on one side. This is the second one. Any idea what make this happen?

Lack of sufficient lubrication.
Probably a flaw in the design, very common on fords.

If you plan to fix that tranny again, I would replace the solenoid pack. You might have a bad line pressure solenoid.

The trans cooler in the radiator might be plugged. Lubrication oil is feed thru the cooler. The cooler are known to plug up limiting oil supply to the gears.

Our radiator does a bad job, if any at all, of tranny cooling. Best bet is aftermarket cooler (only 75 shipped)
