You know Top Element will help you out. Talk to Larrio about the custom kit we're working on, the ultimate in Maxima brakes. Even better than the regular Stillen/AP Racing. It takes that kit to the next level.
i'm having a hard time sleeping just thinking about this damn kit.

I know the Wilwoods aren't exactly Brembos, but why would they look funny?

Here they are looking they're worst:

Why would it look out of place if the calipers have Wilwood on them?

man....kloogy..ur car is freaking nice now...last time i saw it was like over a year ago...at the park during the nissan meet. it was up in cypress or something...well anyways...i think those breaks dont look that good mainly because of the rims....imo those rims dont look all that great...but ur rims...man...i think it will look awesome

oh and...so what it the calipers dont have external bridges, my z32 calipers on my 240sx has internal and they're fine, i had the irons and then upgraded to aluminum, besides, this kit isn't setting him back 3k... oh, and the brembo brakes on the Z has internal bridges...i dont think the bridge will be a problem, but maybe the seals, has rotora made anything for the MAX yet?

The aluminum calipers on the oem Z32 300zs have steel pistons also.

I've no pics but.....having been the prototype developer/first install of the Precision Brakes Wilwood kit with the large (12.9 x1.25") two-piece slotted rotors and the forged Superlite III caliper I can tell you these are fine pieces.

My forged Superlite calipers do not have the white Wilwood lettering which I agree looks tacky. My calipers are plain black, and they will stay that way. But, the black-anodized aluminum hats do have two small Wilwood logos machined into them; thin, white lettering about 1/2" high and 180 degrees apart on the outer part of the hats close to where they bolt to the rotors -they look awesome. The calipers have steel pistons and do have the external cross-over tube. I'm using the soft Q-compound pads...no dust and dead quiet.

BTW, the Superlites are much larger than the ones on the pic above, those are the Dynalite calipers and they are way smaller. Also, even with the larger rotors and calipers these pieces reduced unsprung weight by eight lbs per wheel not trivial by any means.

My brakes have been on the car for 7k miles now and I have not even as much as had to look at them. At the current rate of wear, the pads look like they will go 50k miles before they need replacement so...if these things are supposed to be unreliable, well, I've not seen that at all....

One last comment: pliz pop over to the Gen 6 forum and see how many 'warped rotors' threads are beginning to pop up -which lead me to wonder how Matt's kit will hold up....only time will tell.

i thot of getting the wilwoods before. but i dont' really trust them because the pistons are real thin. i trust the 300zx TT brake over the wilwoods. the only two actual bbk i think is ever worth looking to are the brembo's and AP's but i asked stoptech and they said for about 1400 they'll build u a kit

Guys, I've got over 40k miles on my wilwoods and have not had to rebuild them once. I've been through about 8 sets of pads on them, from heavy-duty track stuff to wilwood Q series street pads. the calipers holding up to daily driving is not a problem. I've even pulled the pistons out and looked for corrosion, none. no leaks, nothing.. so I scrubbed the brake dust off the edge of the pistons and put them back in. still haven't leaked a drop in 40k miles.

Wilwood brake conversions have been used on muscle cars for many years. Its pretty much THE brake kit for upgrading from drum brakes to disc for the old cars. I didn't find a set specifically for the Maxima, but if they are good enough to stop 500+ hp 4000lbs+ cars, I'd think they would be a good option for the Maxima as well.

Body kit vs. BBK...hm...

Personally I like having the writing on it. It's not overly flashy or tacky at all. it's nice and small, and dammit, I want people to know that I shelled out for a BBK!

well, i got the precision brakes kit a long time ago and they're alright. i did have a frozen caliper but they took care of it and sent out a replacement caliper and new set of pads. they have very good customer service.

Matt, thaks very much for convincingly dispelling what are obviously uninformed opinions about Wilwoods being flimsy!

i think chunger knows alot about these. he's gone thru a set or two, he said those had to be rebuilt once in a while. but instead of rebuilding them, he just gets newcalipers since they're cheap.
