Miles per gallon

I am currently getting 18mph city and 22mph on all highway. Does anyone know what the 3.0 engine is rated at? I want to know if this is normal.

Yeah, sounds about right to me. I can push my tank to abut 265 miles of driving. But I refill around 230.

According to Nissan, it's supposed to get about 21 @ City. And 27 @ Highway. But MPG statistics from manufacturers are almost never correct, anyways.

I had similar poor MPG, 18 around town, since getting my 2000 I30 four years ago.

However, I recently replaced all six coils, installed a new (updated) MAF, changed to synthetic ATF, and added a Berk Intake.

Car now runs better than when it was new, and around town MPG are up to 20.5! Can't wait to see what it can do on the interstate!

I just got back from a 420 mile trip to Pittsburgh (from Chicago) and I averaged 29.5mpg on the trip there w/out AC at 75mph and 26mpg back with A/C on most of the time doing 75mph. This is according to my caclulations, not onboard computer. Most on Sunaco 94 gas with some Exxon and Mobil 93 mixed in.

I get from 21 to 24mpg combined driving in my 2K GXE 5spd, depending on ratio of city/highway. 87 Octane. I calculate my mileage at every fillup, so this is not just a guess.

Same here... on longer wide open trips with my 02 auto I can get about 29mpg or close to it. When I first got the Max I was getting 30.1mpg on long drives cruising at 75 or so.

You guys think that is good. Over the weekend doing 70mph , 2hour trip going over slight hills and long straitaways i averaged 30.7 mpg!!!!! Thats in a automatic, 3.5. My baby was getting much as a Honda!!!! The only mods i have as of now is a Injen Intake, amsoil, amsoil tranny fluid. Before i got the Intake , the most i could get was 25.9 mpg at that speed. The intake IMO has already payed for itself. Instead of fueling up twice a week now its once every 6-7 days! I knew the intajke would give me some performance gains, but i didn't know it would increase my mpg!!!!

30.7.... NICE.... How many miles are on the car? I also have an RSX Type S and I added a CAI and noticed better gas mileage in that too. My Max (stock)sometimes gets better MPG then the RSX. Go figure?????/

Twin Turbo Z.... Nice cars. If gas prices keep going up I might think twice about it if I was you. Unless of course you don't car to spend $3.00 a gallon as rumor has it prices will be up to . I have 52,XXX on mine so I feel your pain.

I just it when the max gets below the half tank mark; the needle just seems to steadily fall. I've tried managing to keep filling it up to keep atleast half a tank. Doesn't seem to work.

Yeah i thought about it, gas prices are ricing rediculously!!!
If i got the Twin turbo it would replace the Max for scooting around town, going to grocery store, weekend runs, etc. I run the twin turbo to work probally a few times a week to give the Max a break. 45 miles to and from work.....

One thing i must say, the Max ia good highway car, the car loves to run!

You think that is bad. I have 47 miles ONE WAY to work. The main reason I got my RSX-S. Fun to drive, good on gas and holds its value. I do miss driving my Max though and take it to work once in a while. Now I just mod the RSX. Shooting for a 13.7 quarter time. I am at about a 14.4 give or take now with the mods. The Z will be another money pit for mods IMO.

I have been getting pretty good mileage in my auto 2K3. However, I have noticed there is a big discrepancy between the onboard calculations that show up in the Trip computer and when filling up at the gas station and just dividing miles traveled on the tank by the number of gallons to fill up. Has anyone else noticed this?

Anyways, my last two fill-ups, I have gone about 350ish miles, and still had about 3 gallons left (if you go by the 18+ gallon max capacity listed in the owner's manual). On a trip from Tampa-Orlando (about 100 highway miles each way), I averaged over 30 mpg. On my commute (35 miles each way/mixed highway and city), I am averaging about 24-25 mpg.

So if I read you guys that say you're getting about 30mpg on the highway correctly, you should get at least 525 miles out of a full tank. I didn't know this was possible, still kinda doubt it, but is this true?
