Dead Maxima
Dead Maxima won't turn over, good battery
My sister's 96 Maxima just past 103000 and has been doing fine. Yesterday it would not attempt to start at all. I have a Pathfinder so I tried to make it do similar things to her car. Best I can figure is a sensor for Park and Neutral start lock out may be bad. I took the console out and see a switch for Park low on the front of the shifter. This one appears to be working. I cannot find anything else that would indicate park and neutral to the starter lock out function.
Actual key switch in dash will click a relay in the dash but nothing else. This is exactly like my Pathfinder when I pull it into reverse and try to start.
I had it start twice today but went right back to the other failed state.
Is this the indication of a bad starter or a switch gone bad for the shifter?
