$250 for a Carbonfiber hood? Good deal or no?
$250 for a Carbonfiber hood? Good deal or no?
I found a guy on the internet who is selling a carbonfiber hood for my Maxima for $250 local pickup. I called him today and asked if it was an "A" grade hood. He told me that its more like a "B+" because the edges are NOT rolled, but cut nicely, and that it is NOT double sided. He also said that it is BRAND NEW but there are 2 minor scratches on it that can hardly be seen.
Do you think that this is a good deal for $250 considering the quality or will I just have problems and headaches in the future? (Or maybe I can even bargain him down to $225
)
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Its a local pickup.
250.00 is not bad. Id probably buy it if I didnt have the money to spend on a FI or GTP item.
It cant be no worse then my Redline hood which was 500.00 shipped
If I found one locally that had not been installed Id pick it up for 250.00

It probably is the same exact hood as the one redlinemax.com was selling. There were only 3 hoods available and a 4th will be coming out soon (there was a post about it a few days ago) And as far as I know, the GTP and FI hoods both have rolled edges so......
im saying keep in mind most companys charge $100 shipping so he would be SAVING that since he would be picking it up. If this post does not apply please disregard..........
Benny, you are a MADMAN.......

hehehe...if i were you check it before you buy it. Or just buy it and pay for the consequences later.
Trevor, i may be a madman but at least i'm not a firestarter.

Thanks for all the input. I actually did call the guy and told him that I wanted to see the hood first before I gave my decision. I might drive the 60 miles tommorow to go see it. I'll keep you guys updated.

It all depends on wether you want your hood to fly open on the highway resulting in a broken /smashed hood and busted windsheild and risk to your life during the moment of blindness.
If you dont mind that, then you dont need them.
Doesnt matter how tight the hood fits. The hood is so light that in time without added latch support the latch assembly will seperate from the hood once air gets in between and forces its way up.
Its metal attached to fiberglass. Not a bond as strong as metal on metal.
