Which would be better at SQ?

I am trying to upgrade my SQ. Right now I have a 2002 model L5 15" solobaric. I am only pushing around 400 watts to it (I know I am under powering it). Max RMS is 600 or 750 I can't remember for that year model. I was looking at the 10W6v2 or the 12W6v2 both in a H.O box that JL offers. Which would be better at SQ?

12 incher should get more low end extension and be a little louder given everything else is equal. Definitely drop the Kicker, though. They are fine for SPL but not so great for the SQ.

If you want to get more SQ you should upgrade the interiors. When I put components up front my SQ increased a great deal.

I have some CDT CL641 3 ways in the front with the 6.5 in the doors, the midrange in the kicks and the tweets on the a pillar. They are running off of about 80 watts per channel. I am still on the fence for the 10 or the 12w6v2. I do want to get them in a seal enclosure though.

You want sound quality, and you can spend the $$$, I am yet to hear anything that tops my IDMAX, from Image Dynamics. I have it in a 1.53 sealed box, and it gets plenty loud and sounds good all the way to lowest note. If you really want SQ though invest in a good quality set of components in the front.

I have owned a few different brands of subwoofers in my lifetime & I will repeat myself one more time by saying JL Audio sub's are just a different kind of bass. Don't get me wrong they pump extremely hard and i'm sure there are other brands that are just as good or better, but the bass JL audio subs produce is softer/rounder/fuller/cleaner then most sub's I have experienced. Going with a JL sub will deffinitly change the depth of the music. Expecially once you get rid of all the stock Bose speakers & put in some decent component's. The stock Bose speakers sound ok when amplified, but they have a hard time reproducing certain midrange frequencies. Especially voices. The tend to start coming apart around 600 - 800hz. So do yourself a favor & replace the factory speakers. If you really want the front to sound lively replace the tweeters in the doors & place a set of coaxial in the doors also. I like like seperates and thats what I started with, but when I replaced the 6-1/2's in the doors with coaxial (2ways) it evened out the sound. Meaning having a tweeter lower in the door along with the tweeter in the factory location it seemed to broaden the music. Especially when listening to cd's that have a lot of left & right seperation recorded on them. The stereo effect seemed alittle more enhanced.

I just brought a 10W6v2 in a H.O Box and it sounds great. Not as loud or boomy as my 15 L5 was, but a lot better sound quality.
