Well depends on what you are looking for. Do you want more reliability out of your transmission? More of a "butt dyno" increase on the performance?
I can tell you that the VB mod doesn't do a whole lot unless you have nitrous, turbo, or SC. It's really done to increase the life of the transmission under tough conditions. In the 1/4 mile you might see a .01 or 0.02 second difference.
There is a definite difference in the feel of the shift. It is firmer depending on the stage you get. Stage 1 you won't feel that much of a difference. Stage 2 you will feel it, but it's something you get used to easily. Stage 3, well that's hardcore, I'm not too sure on the extent, but it's REALLY hard shifting from what I understand.
As far as I know there is only Maximum Tuning that is doing the VB mods. You might be able to swap out cores with them if they have the 2k2 available. Unfortunately they didn't have a 2k available when I did mine so my car was down for about 5 days because I'm in Cali. With a core there will be only the downtime it takes you to swap out the core.
If you decide to get a VB mod then you MUST get a transmission cooler. It's necessary because the VB mod makes your ATF run hotter due to the increased pressures.
So that's about the jist of the VB mod. Hope this helps in your decision.

VB mod
You guys and the acronyms crack me up.
Blkmaxx - VB mod is Valve Body mod...as in the valve body in the transmission. It will make the trans shift firmer instead of the smooth, stock engagement.
With all the power in the VQ35 motor, with this mod, I'll bet you can chirp the tires in second gear, sorta like a suped up Slomaro or Mustang.
Some other definitions for you. Sorry if you already know these.
FSTB is Front Strut Tower Brace
CAI is Cold Air Intake
WAI is Warm Air Intake
GAB is Ghetto Air Box
FYI this ORG can be a PITA to figure out sometimes, and you'll read things and say WTF is that?

I'll chime in and say I love my 2nd Gen Stage 2 Valve Body from Maximum Tuning.
Great price and service for a mod that makes driving an auto much more pleasurable. Theoretically this mod should improve quarter mile times but there isn't much hard evidence to support that. Still, I'll go out on a limb and say because of the quicker shifts you car will be faster. I think this mod is particularly important as you start to add HP to your car. I've noticed that the VQ35's seem to have longer shifts with added horsepower especially when headers are added to the picture.
foodmanry- Why do you say this mod will increase tranny temps? I would think that with quicker shifts your tranny would generate less heat. Do you have any links or further information on this subject?

Long ridiculous shifts, 2nd gear being the worst and 3rd not to far behind. The VB mod changed all of that. The car shifts on a dime if you watch the tach as you gun it at WOT . It shifts just as I would shift if it was manual hell probably better. No delay what so ever. It does take some getting used too. The shift into 2nd is pronouced. Much more so at regular acceleration or traffic like conditions. But if you ever owned a manual it will be no big deal. I can chirp the wheels in first & second at wot with ease. Its like having the best of both worlds Manual/Auto. Not to mention it prolongs the life of our auto trans. And as far as a tranny cooler it is not needed unless you do some heavy towing on a frequent basis or youre at the track every weekend. Why is it the best money I ever spent? Well I guess I look at cost to happiness ratio. $1300 on audio upgrade= Happy. $1000 dollars on suspension upgrade=Very Happy. $ 500 on brake upgrade= Jury still out. $350 on VB mod= Best bang for the buck! With suspension upgrade coming in at a close second. Go for it you wont be sorry.
what stage do u have and how hard does 2nd chirp?
Well...........
I have a Stage 2 VB mod. Not a very hard chirp in second. I imagine it would be more pronounced with the VQ 3.5 though. And as far as the Tranny Cooler.......... it is something that wouldent hurt but it is no more needed than with out the VB mod. As per Jeff at Maximum Tuning. His words exactly were said in another reply above "It actually runs cooler than before due to the quicker shifts".
