HELP! Problems removing stock shifter (5spd)
HELP! Problems removing stock shifter (5spd)
This is really starting to **** me off. I want to install my B&M STS and I can't even get the stock one out!
How do you get it out? I think I have to fit the bottom of the shifter (cylindrical shape) through the round hole in the bracket under the car, and then pull the whole thing out underneath.
But how did you guys get it through the round hole? It's impossible!! It's like trying to get a square peg thru a round hole. I'm really tempted just to put it all back together and sell the STS.

HELP!
I had a short throw shifter in my Max but it was ****ing me off. 1st remove the trim around the shifter and ash tray- then from under the car- remove the shields that are around the cat. U will see 4 10mm nuts holding down the big rubber piece to the body of the car. Remove those, also remove the 12mm bolt that attaches the shifter rod to the shifter, remove the spring but make sure not to loose it... then when U remove the whole shifter assembly the ball will be in this socket. It takes alot of grease and swearing to get it to pop back in. Poping out is a breeze but poping the new one in sucks. Then re-assemble it. I will look for the HOW TO with pics on how to install one for ya in a sec. Instructions will probably not be for a Maxima but some other Nissan like a Sentra, which has the same shifter in it and is even interchangable.
