Aftermarket Alarm - How to hook back up window roll-down mechanism?
Aftermarket Alarm - How to hook back up window roll-down mechanism?
I have a 5th gen (2003) and it HAD the factory "window roll down" mechanism from the keyless remote.
BUT NOW, I have a Clifford alarm, and it doesn't work. I have a spare channel, and I would like to hook that up to the factory auto-roll-down mechanism. Any idea how to get this to work? Is it possible? Also, can you wire it to make them roll back up too?
I do NOT want to buy the "Clifford window roll-down/up module" - it's not worth the extra money really, but if I can fix/rig it for free, it will be worth it.

so then why are all my windows 1 touch up and 1 ouch down. when i hold down aux. and panic on the alarm, all 4 windows roll down. when i arm, all 4 windows roll up.....
guess i can't...:P

maxcosity - Viper 790xv with DEI 530t window module. 1 module per 2 windows. 2 modules. 4 wires per door....16 wires total....pretty time consuming job...need to run wires INTO each door.
If the clifford has an adjustable time on the extra channel then you can still use the factory mechanism to roll down the window. The roll down feature is basically the unlock (dbl pulse) with 3 seconds or more of current going through it.
I have the same setup as Polo, as does Filtor1. I installed both Filtor1's alarm and 530T modules, as well as mine. The exception is that we have the Viper 791XV instead of the 790XV.
Polo is correct. All windows become 1-touch up/down at all controllers, but you have to run 4 wires into each door.

You have 2 options, depending on the model of the alarm and how it functions.
If your alarm has a "2nd unlock output" wire, you can hook up that wire to the door unlock wire. When you press the button on the remote to disarm the system, it sends the double-pulse. If you release the button and press and hold it again, it will send out voltage on the "2nd unlock wire". If your alarm supports it, check that wire to see if the alarm keeps the wire active while you hold down the button, or if it only pulses the wire regardless of how long you hold down the button.
The 2nd way is to diode isolate the door unlock wire and the 3rd channel. Then tap both of those wires into the door unlock wire. Program the alarm for either validity or 30 sec timed on channel 3. Then when you activate channel 3, it should roll down the window.
I haven't tested these in the 5th gen Max, but have done this in other cars the same way.

I'm definitely interested in window control with my 791XV. The shop told me it would run like $160 each (I think) to add modules from DEI to front and back windows. If I could do this for less, I'd definitely be interested.

I have mine programmed for only 3-5 secs which opens only a few inches, so if I want it fully opened I have to press it a few times (which I prefer). The longer the time you set the more it would open.
If your system allows timed output on the actual unlock button, you could test this first by just extending the time on it to see if it works.
