anyone got any tips on finding em for a max?

 

get some brake cleaner , start the engine let it idle
than spray the cleaner around intake mainfold gasket and around suspected cracks in vaccum hoses. Look and listen for RPM increase - go easy on the spray though .....
I'm pretty sure you will find your problem area with this method.
