Racing Straight Pipe

Custom Maxima sells these, they are just regular pipes with a resinator. Does anyone know if this pipe that elimintes the main cat help at all?? Does it make a difference? I know someone who does inspections so Im not worried about that but I want to know if I should spend the money on it, and if its worth it performance wise.

if you have other mods then it can help in the top end. the dynos you see for most racing pipes have to be the case of replacing a bad cat. that is how they are showing a 10+ gain. combined with an intake and exhaust mods, you could see a little gain up top but will probably lose about the same torque. i woudlnt spend the money if its the only mod you have. save up for a y pipe.

I already have a catman Y pipe, and I was lookin for something that would give me some hp and a little exhaust tone, but I dont want anything too loud, but if this thing isnt gonna give me any noticeable gains then its not worth it

i would agree as well. if you want more tone get the b pipe without the resonator assuming you have the stock muffler.

The B-pipe will eliminate the nasty crimps in the stock exhaust = better flow = some hp gains. Unless you are also replacing your rear section, you should save yourself some $$$ and just go to a muffler shop to have crimps cut out, and new pieces welded on. If you are replacing the rear section, buy a matching b-pipe (2.5").

I bought mine off someone from the org. No emissions in NH so thats not a worry. As for tone, it may have made the exhaust a tad raspy after I got my b-pipe installed (I also have a dual outlet straight thru muffler). Not a real hp/torque gainer, but every little bit helps I guess....

Do you get a SES light because of the cat being removed?

not to get you down but i dont see any way you can pass inspection w/o the main cat. its worth a try but id have the cat ready to put back on if i was you. not sure about how strict they are but if its any like here in charlotte, it will have to have the main cat in place.
