Electric Problems

Whats up everybody, I have a 1989 Nissan Maxima all white, shaved emblems, and black leather int. I first started having problems with the map lights going out. I would replaced the right one and the the left one went out, so I replaced both and now neather work now and they arn't blown, just don't work. Then my int. door lights all stoped working, I tested the back passanger one for voltage and found there wasnt any power running to the bulb. And the power light dosn't work on my A/T but the yellow confort light dose. Is there any fuses for these lights? I don't know where they are. And also recently I have had problems with the auto chest belt not working unless the car is ON which is the most annoying out of all. And the lap belt wont auto reel, so I have to hand feed it in, is it broke or dose it just need oil er what. And also from the passanger side my key wont lock all the doors but just that one. Whats the point? Is it broke too or is that how they are? If anyone knows how to fix any of this or has tips, or tricks that would be awesome. My car has just been through alot! Thanks, Justin

First of all, welcome Justin.

Sounds like you might be having some fuse problems, among other things. Your fuse box, in case you don't know, is right above the hood latch handle. Not sure which fuse is for your interior lights, but I'd start there.

The bulb for your power/comfort switch sounds like it's blown. That's replacable. I'm not sure what bulb it uses, but plenty of people have done it here (so someone, chime in please...)

I'm not really sure about the seat belt dilemma you're having. That might be fuse related, as well. At least for the 'auto chest belt' it might be.

And I'm not altogether sure about the key problem, either. Sorry.

But good luck diagnosing your issues - and enjoy the ride!

Thanks for the posts and the welcome.
I guess I'll check all the fuses again. I thought it might be one of my relays going bad, I dont know which one controls the suicide belt. I could take it to the dealer and find out if i just knew what relay was my problem.

Dose anyone know what relay controls the seatbelt after the car is off?And would that affect my door lights also?
