Hi -

I keep hearing/reading that the V6 in the Maxima is considered one of the best V6s available. I was wondering what other engines compete with it? Is our engine *the* best or is it like second or third?... where does it rank?

Thanks!

This oft-repeated quote comes from Ward's Auto, at http://www.wardsauto.com/default.asp?action=en#n . They have said for each of the last six years that it was the best V-6 in the world.

Actually the VQ won the award 7 times in a roll.
Wards auto compares engines in cars' msrp less than 50000.
they said the maxima's engine is the "best V6 availible in America".

Actually the quote is, "We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: There isn’t a better V-6 in all of automobiledom — regardless of price. The fact that the VQ is standard in two very affordable sedans, the Nissan Maxima and Infiniti I30, only seals the argument that the 3L VQ is one of the world’s finest engine designs. In fact, for Nissan’s engineers to develop such an extraordinary design for a series-production engine may be one of the company’s most underappreciated engineering triumphs.
