Ok after reading about all the hype of the 5 speed i finally took the plunge and got a white 98 Se 5speed with black interior (what an upgrade) this baby only wants to fly i drove her home and i am lucky i never got a ticket, man theres a big difference between an auto and a 5 speed, its like night and day.

To anyone still pushing an auto i seriously recommend you dump it and get a 5 speed.

i think its time to buy a radar detector as a first line of defense against unwanted tickets.

So i am currently doing two hot maxs (i hope they dont run into each other) anyways i will wash and wax my new baby this weekend take her shopping, (she need neon underseat light) and after that who knows. she might get lucky and i might not stop modding her

anyways just wanted to share the joy

My '95 SE is a 5-speed. I don't know how to drive an automatic and I'm not about to learn how!

There is nothing more fun than a 5spd. Kicking that stick from 5th gear to 3rd gear feels like you got boost. hehehe

I love my 5spd.

im not trying to create another "auto vs 5speed" thread, but im perfectly content w/my automagic. i do a lot of city driving w/occasional highway and dont feel the need to shift like a nut. It may be faster and may shift smoother, but i think ill stay w/my automagic.

A radar detector won't safeguard you from driving like speed racer- enjoy the 5 speed but dont drive to kill.

and for neons under the seats....i think you should read a bit more on the org about modding before you start w/the civic neons

not bashing, just some helpful hints. goodluck

I have a 5 speed to, wouldn't wanna live without it. Drove a automatic a few times, it was a Pontiac Firebird my dad once owned, although it was a big fat V8, I hated the stuppid thing because of it's automatic. It's major borring **** when you don't have to shift. Also, the 5 spd is a lot faster! Not a bit, but a lot!

Just my 2cts.

how much faster is a 98 auto vs a 98 5 spd, in the 1998 maxima brochure they tested the 5 spd at 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds but that seems kinda fast and car and driver and road and track havent got that fast? whats the fasted you guys have got basically stock...thanks

Got another 5 Speed lover right here.

I love shifting and the fact that Manuals get better gas than autos ( a little bit ), and all the advantages that 5 Speed have over Autos. I dont plan to ever buy a Auto. My first car was an auto but I had that for about 3 days then got the max!

Nissan must love shifting too since thats their slogan.

Never give a stick to two kids in a sandbox. You'll have more lines than you can count! Kane & Abel/Auto & Manual is chapter 1 in the Maxima Bible. Let the stones be tossed!

BTW, my 5spd rocks! I would not trade it for another.

(chillinmax, in-town driving is what I love my 5spd for....I can get in and out of traffic quicker because I don't have to wait on the auto tranny to decide which gear it wants to go in. While the auto tranny is deciding, I am already in the other lane and gone because I shifted and was ready.)

i cant wait either until i get my stick in my max. it is so boring right now and i hate how the tranny does not know which gear to be in sometimes. i am currently driving a vq35 with 6 speed and i love it sooo much. then i came home and my car was there and i decided to take it for a ride and it sucks. first thing i did was stick my left foot where the clutch is supposed to be. so cant wait for vq35 6 speed in 4th gen.

autos are not bad among the rest of the auto v6's like grand prix and grand ams, but the 5 spd max definately feels alot more precise shifting wise and much more powerful, which is why i never drive my bro's auto max.

Always driven a manual tranny, Autotragics to me are like driving a big go-cart. Glad you finally decided to drive a 5spd and feel the real deal!

Reverend Love Joy?

Anyways, wassup Bru? i guess im just content w/an automagic. I just find that having my hand on my remote and not worrying about shifting is comfortable.

So how much extra did you have to pay when you traded in your automatic or was it an even trade.

now you said no bashing so what are you doing to us auto's. i bet you a million dollars my auto will beat yours 24-7. but i know how you feel the max in five speed is a high by itself but dont drag us auto's down in the process.

i know the feeling i have owned several five speeds and still have one its the sweetest thing. but some of us own automatics for a different reason thats all. anyway thier the best of both worlds so good luck with your new toy.
