He's still a Nissan Bro, but good kill. I had some older guy in a 350Z w/ racing stiped give me the thumbs up the other day. I felt really good.

Wow, I didnt think that even with headers we would be able to take a Z. I see allot of them stock running 14 flat.

Headers are exhaust manifolds + the Y pipe in our cars. It's not a real DIY unless you have that much spare time (and spare knuckles). Unless you have the tools and talent, it would be better to let someone else install the headers.

jsut saw cattman header and y-pipe on custommaxima COST ALMOST 800? and they also recommand stainless y-pipe..another 200....can you please take a look if the stainless y-pipe is necessary? I mean, the 800 includes y-pipe in the header already?

it all depends on too many factors. Track model, touring and base all run different times. My brother is on 19's so that doesn't help him at all.

I believe the curb weight on the base Z is approximately the same as the 2k2 maxima, maybe take 100 lbs or so.

In the end it's a driver's race. My headers definitely gave me the edge, but then he got an exhaust and we're even again.

The header comes with the Y pipe...

If you install headers, the Y-pipe has to go it's one or the other, unless I'm retard you cant install both at the same time, so if you have the choice go for the headers you'll probably end-up with 5-7 more HP.

My 2 cents

I raced one here in town. Plate said "ZYA LATR."
Then I said, "see ya later" by pulling 2 cars on him by the middle of third gear. This was with an even launch. I think it takes a pretty good driver for them to get flat 14's stock. My buddy drove one back when he was looking for a new car. He was not very impressed with the Z at all. He's driven my Max and said it feels definitely stronger. He ended up buying an STI and from a roll he he barely walks me. He's always been impressed with the Maxima's. I think most people that know better, know that Maxima's are in fact pretty darn quick cars!

They are not sold together! Look at these pics! Do you see a difference?

The y-pipe portion is part of the headers.

I don't understand your question. An 02+ w/ a 6-speed can be taken close to 100 mph in 3rd gear.

Good kill, but as far as the Max's being equal to the Z's stock, um, no. Given equal drivers, the Z is going to stomp the Max, that's all there is to it. Of course some Max's might be beating Z's, there's tons of variables, tranny, mods, drivers, etc, but I wouldn't get too cocky.

The z will stomp the max?Did you notice he was a 5.5 gen? Maybe your 2k max would've gottens stomped.

Since when did the difference of around 33 or so horsepower mean a car getting stomped? Give me a break. Also from what i understand, the actual power the Z has it's so far from 5.5 gen maxima. Be practical, how on earth is a car with the same engine, and about the same performance goign to stomp? It is a pretty close match actually.

The cars are very close, considering the Z is rwd, in certain circumstances it will perform better, from a roll it's fair game.

350Z is not all that fast, it don't handle too good stock eighter. Its a overall good car, but it don't really shine in any area other than value. I used to own a 92 TTZ 5spd with alot of mods.... and I'm tempted to buy another Z32.... I would never catch myself owning a 350Z. Only new Nissan I like is the Titan. I owned a few 350Zs in My Maxima and its only a weeenie 3.0L 5spd.

00-01 GXE 5spd Maximas 195-200WHP stock- weight - 3105 with 1/4 tank of gas, CF hood, light weight wheels, nothing in the trunk. Why do GXEs put out more power ? cause we don't have 17" wheels that weight 50lbs each including the tire, 15" steel wheels with 205-65-15 Craptenzas weights only 34lbs.

Thanks 2k2whitemaxi!! Now I WANT a set of headers to go with my Y-pipe.

My midrange is SICK-FAST now with only the Y-pipe; I cant imagine what headers will do for me.

car and driver / auto or manual : i see some 350z's run 13.9's and some 14.5's, a maxima with mods can hang or hurt the new Z. Maybe not everytime but it certainly can happen. excellent work !

HA!!!!!! I'd like to see you hit 100 in 3rd on a six speed. More like 87mph at redline (for sure under 90). 2nd redlines at abour 65 so 3rd goes by quick. We have to shift to 4th in the 1/4 unlike the 5 speeds that do just under 100 in 3rd.

You're right. I guess I was thinking of my 95 Max w/ the variable intake. I do remember shifting into 4th at the track in the 02.
