ok i was on the higway and a 2000 max spotted me i got a 2003 max , we lined up at like 70 both grounded it i left him only by about 1 car he was hanging pretty well , then we cam to a light and it turned green i again grounded it and so did he this time i was about 4 cars away but i never thought a 3.0 could even come close to hanging with my 3.5 if i would have not driven well and he was a better driver he could have took me ! ? is my car not working fine and should i have it checked out OR are these 3.0 pretty close to the 3.5 ?

the right combo of driver skills, auto vs. MT, and various mods can make any car faster than another.....there was a 1979 Volvo 240 running mid-12's last time we were at the track...and it looked like a total POS. Stock Volvo 240 runs about 18's.....

Yes, a modified 3.0l maxima with intake,ypipe will hang and beat a 3.5l maxima via manual trannies. I have seen the vids of member pioneer beating on several 6 speed maximas.

 

well if you compare a 3.0 max with all bolt ons vs. a stock 2k2 auto... it could easily hang or beat you on the highway. The 3.5 maxima benefits a lot from the extra torque on local streets and the track

 

I have pulled pretty good on a couple 3.5 max's......so think from the 3.5 max's point of view, he was probably wondering how in the world a stock auto I30 beat him?? But he does not know what type of tranny I have or that I am not stock at all.

 

A stock 6sp max 02-03 will beat ANY stock 3.0l maxima auto or manual. I've squashed EVERY 3.0l maxima that's even thought about trying to take me.

 

yeah, theres not a big HP difference between the 3.0 and 3.5 anyways.. so it could just be a drivers race. But ive never been beat buy a 3.0 5th gen, only a 3.0 4th gen (stick).. so you see HP doesnt always win the race.

Not if I was driving the 6 spd, a fat man eating a cake riding a tricycle could burn me... (i dont really know how to drive a 6 spd)... but it may be true if you really know how to drive. ive seen videos here with a 2000 maxima 5 spd beating a 2k2 6 spd, both stock.

I don't have juice anymore and my traps were a lot higher than 101 on the spray .

 

That should be true 99% of the time with equal drivers. But not everyone with a fast car knows how to drive fast.
