there are two second gen wagons sitting in the junk yard I go to. I had posted about this before, but I could not get in the hatch area. Much to my suprise last weekend both of them had keys in them...so now I can get in the hatch area...did you guys still need parts...the both look to be gxe and in pretty good shape....if you guys need parts that are easy to get off then please let me know and I will see what I can to....they are both grey with the button interior.

I need two tail light assemblies for my 86 wagon... the driver's
side has a bad mounting tab and the passenger side has a crack
in it that leaks a little and lets in water when it rains.

I also need the rear sail panels that are mounted to the body
of the car, not the hatch... mainly I need two of the little
fasteners that hold this piece on.

If these are in good shape, I could really use them...

Thanks!

ok I will check on this for you, and get back to you. I know one of the wagons has a manufactures date of 12/86 and i am not sure about the other one....what all years can you use the parts from? and where is the sail panel? WHen you say that I think of the little triangle pannel that is usally on the inside of the car covering up the side view mirror mounting stuff. let me know

I think that I can use 86-88 tail lights, maybe even 85.

The sail panel I'm referring to is the rear most roof pillars,
there are soem black trim pieces that are held in place by
three fasteners each.

These are directly above the tail lights on the body of the
car, not the ones on the hatch itself.

They curve around the roof pillar and are black in color.

Thanks!

they have the tail lights in good shape at the junk yard....I did not get a chance to look for the other stuff. I am sure they would be no more than $20 each at the junk yard I go to....let me know if you want them and I may be able to get them at some point in the near future. I will check for the other parts when i go back.

Oh there's no doubt that I want them... in fact, I'm in
dire need of them... my wife got a fix-it warning a couple
of weeks ago from sheriff.

She says he's sitting pretty much the same spot every night
when she get's off work.

The screws that hold the ***'y in place on my car are frozen.

The driver's side assy is basically hanging on by a thread and
will most likely get destroyed when I have to drill the screws
out... so right now the repair is waiting for new ***'ys!

The dealer wants around $160 per ***'y so $20 is a steal!

Thanks!

Carson,

Just wondering if you had any chance to hit the salvage yards again?

Don't want to push you, but was just wondering if you had a chance...

Thanks!

I think it is. They wagon lights appear to be the same in all years. It was just the front ends that looked different.

scott,
Good news and bad news.

Bad news is I could not get the lights out.

Good news is that there are two sets of of tail lights there in good shape. Maybe you have some tips on how to get these out. THe problem is that the screws (top and bottom) are rusted and I cannot turn them. The only thing I know to do is to go drill them out. Is this a common problem on the wagons? I tried and I am willing to try again but I need a different game plan.

Must be a problem with the wagons as that's what's wrong with my car.

The only way I see to get them out is to drill them out...

Got a cordless drill?

Thanks for trying!

Oh, I'll get mine out... I just need backups in case I break the ones
I have... someone put a much larger screw in the driver's side light
that broke the mounting nut loose behind the body of the car.

That light is holding on by a thread, I'm hoping I'll be able to gain
access to weld the nut back on after the light has been removed.

Without ever removing the lights before, I'm not sure what I'll find
once I get in there...

If it's going to be too much trouble, you're not going to hurt my feelings
by bowing out.

Scott,
I am going to go back to the junk yard this weekend. Are you still in need of the tail lights? If so I will do my best and I will take my drill to try to get those suckers out....just let me know.

thanks, you like the new 19's?

also if anyone else needs anything from a junk yard that is pretty easy to get then you can post it here and I will see if I can get it. The junk yard I use has good prices, but I have to pull everything my self. So post here if you need anything...I can get stuff for good prices plus shipping.

Yeah, take a look at them... the driver's side is the one I really need,
the passenger side would just be a back up.

If they're cracked at all, don't bother... I picked up a driver's side
light off of Ebay, but it has a slight crack in it but the mounting tabs
are in good shape which is the problem with the one on the car.

Like I said, I'm looking for some that are pretty close to mint as possible,
so just use your best judgement.

Thanks!

ok, from what I remember they looked pretty much new. If that is the case do you want one or both? Please let me know so I will know which one/s to really try to get.

I'll take one of each (both sides)... pick the best "set" then we'll
go from there...
