1986 300zx - Interchangable Parts
Hey guys.
July 4th I was in Maine (I live in RI) and my 300ZX gave me some trouble...no more reverse on my AT which was rebuilt a few years ago. After bashing in the fender pretty bad (two days after painting the car), loosing my digital dash, climate control, power seat, and radio, this was pretty much the straw that broke the camels back.
The VG30DE engine (True Mileage Unknown) in it is pretty good however, and I've found a 1990 Maxima for a good price with a recently rebuilt tranny and a new exhaust, but needs a motor. 3rd and 4th Gen Maxima's have been my dream cars for quite a while, and it may possibly be mine soon. I know I'm going to have to do some work to make my 300ZX engine "be" a Maxima engine...mostly cosmetic stuff like the dipstick location and valve covers and stuff. I'm on the thinking that this'll be as easy as reversing the "Converting a Maxima Engine to a 300ZX engine" Guide I found on z31.com. Obviously I'll be giving it a new Timing belt and whatnot because I've lost a 300ZX engine on a snapped belt before (on the way to the mechanics to get it replaced, of course)
Actually the engine is originally from a Pathfinder.
Anyways, If this deal goes through I'll be junking my 300ZX body and taking the engine, but I'm wondering if there is anything else I might want to keep before I say bon voyage to my baby.
Thanks guys,
Fred.
