Got shot down tonight...

So I'm all pumped up about hitting the drags tonight (still kind of a newbie at the track). I even went though the effort of burning off as much gas as I could today, did the weight reduction strategy thing, perfect weather conditions etc... So get to the track at 4:00 when it's suppose to open. I wait until 5:00 outside the gates, still they aren't letting us in. Turns out the timing system wasn't working right. Man, what a disappointment. How depressing putting the spare back in with no gratification of a good run before hand...

Guess I'll have to go on Wednesday...

Mike, ever been to the "Real Street Drags" at Da Grove? Friday is my next opportunity, but I've never been to a RSD event before.

Sounds pretty cool though.

Don't go on Friday night man. Stick to Wednesday nights at DaGrove. Here's why, on Friday night you will get two runs in tops, its ricer central. On Wednesday, you will get half-dozen runs in easy.

By the way, pretty sure Mike wouldn't go to GLD. He's a Byron guy.

If you go this Friday, hope to see ya. I will be there spectating. I dont run the Max in the heat, no point. I will look for ya.

Thanks Ferbs. I've heard this from a few people now, think I'll wait for a Wednesday. I didn't think Mike came up here, but didn't know if anyone else did. So do you head to GLD frequently? Maybe I'll see ya out there some time.

Wait till you get pumped up to go to a track and by the time you get there and pay your fees you find out it's about to rain.

Grrrr...

No, I don't go out there. But once I get my car back up and running I would meet you out there for a few runs. I have been so deprived of the track I would go anywhere. How about Sept?

Yeah, I know that feeling, that was June for us around here. Record rains, flooding rivers, dumping sewage into lakes to prevent treatment facility overflow, closed drag tracks, it was catastrophic...

I'd be down for that. I have a wedding on Sept. 11th, so I'll be down in Kohler that weekend and could go on Friday, or really I could go anytime or any day even works for me. Not sure when you plan to have your car up and running again. I should probably check with the boss (read: wife) before I commit to that though.

Do what I do man. Tell her you are going to the track to spend quality time with your buddies, and suggest she call her girlfriends or whatever and have an evening out. If you don't suggest this, she will be like my girl, "you'd rather spend Friday night out at the track, and not with me, blah blah."

LOL, She's really not too bad but I've been spending a lot of time doing "Maxima Things" this summer. But yeah, that's probably a good idea. She is standing up in the thing and I don't know a single person there. Open bar though!! I don't see why racing the night before would bother her too much. You should come up for a few runs too if we meet up.

Finally got to the track again while the forums where down and ran a 14.2@100. Felt so good to be out there again. Just need to work on those 60'ers now and 13's should be doable.

You're running FI right? Sorry I didn't see a mod list. Good times man, how well did you get out of the hole? 60' times? How was the weather man?

OMG it is true Byron is not a down hill track...my new best time was broken at GLD. My best at Byron is 15.140 @ 91.64mph. And just this past August 13 (Friday the 13th) I went to GLD and broke my old record by 3 of a hundreth of a second. 15.115 @ 90.63mph. And no mods was changed or altered between the time at Byron and GLD.

Yup, stock Stillen kit with 3.6 pulley and y-pipe, no other power mods really. Running about 230whp. I'm thinking a b-pipe would be a good idea soon, and plan to fabricate a CAI for the S/C here soon.

Here's what one of my slips looks like:
60' 2.365
1/8 9.349@80.898
1/4 14.211@99.562

cool weather, but humid since it was almost raining and did rain earlier, didn't think we were even going to be able to run that night.

I'm hoping to get to GLD this September. I've heard it's better than WIR, which is near me.

I got in 6 runs, could of gotten 7 or 8 if I arrived earlier than 7pm when the gates opened at 6pm.
