I received my used PR CAI from another org member last week, so I decided to see if I could get ahold of that template. I emailed info@placeracing.com and they responded very promptly (good service!) with a copy of the template in the form of a CAD drawing-- CUTOUT17.DC2

Turns out this is a DesignCAD file, and you can download a viewer to view and print out .DC2 files here: http://www.raincad.com/designcad_viewer.asp

I am not sure if Place Racing has this template copyrighted, so I won't post it just now. But info@placeracing.com can send it to you via attachment in email.

 

Cool, I recently extended my hole up another 1/2 inch towards the front of the car, ( so the hole looks like an oval) I think the CAI fits much better and it got rid of the squeaking, gives it a little flexing room.

BTW, I remember finding a thread from Y2KevSE about using a 3.5" hole saw instead of a 3" hole saw. What do you recommend for the hole width (and I assume any sort of lining to protect the pipe?)

 

Use a 3.25" hole saw and the enclosed rubber seal to protect the edges.

 

Mine didn't come with a rubber seal (it's used), but I've heard people using weatherstripping (good idea?)

 

I started with weather stripping but it did not hold up. I ended up with a rubber piece of hose that I split down one end to protect the opening after I used touch up paint to cover the bare metal.
