89-97 Q45. The same years I think they had a VH41DE in a non-US car (Cima). I looked on google and found an Aussie that fit one into an s13. I don't know if the VH45 is bigger, though.

The only other Nissan V8s are for Indy Cars and Nissan's mid-90s supercar, the R390 GT1, that had a twin turbo 550 hp V8 in it.

don't forget the vk45de (the latest q45 V8 that is also in the M45 and FX45) and the vk56de found in the Pathfinder Armada, Titan and QX56.

and DAMN I hope it will be an option in the 2005 Pathfinder.

Well new pathfinder does get the VQ40DE, and if the numbers are anything like what Nissan posted for the Frontier....they probably won't need a v8! (Motortrend or someone like that says its listed at 265hp, 284tq! Some base model full size v8 trucks don't make that much power!) All I have to say is my job dropped when I saw that.

In the domestic Japanese market, Nissan has had v8's since 1965. They were in the very large and luxurious Nissan President, the predecessor to the Q45, and which the first Q's were based on as well. IIRC, the first v8's were fuel injected 4.0l's with 195hp, not bad at all compared to other engines of the era. In it's day it was a very prestigious automobile, and sported almost every conceivable luxury feature at the time. It even had power vent windows! Along with seperate radios front and back, even seperate climate controls for front and rear passengers.

This site shows the 65-73 bodystyle:

And here is the 74-90 bodystyle:
http://www.datsunworld.com/other/pres.htm

It's interesting that they kept the same bodystyle for so long, but apparently they do that quite a lot in Japan, If there is no real need to change it then they keep it alongside the newer models.
After 1990, it looks about the same as a Q45.
