A/C Expansion Valve - Location?

Hello - I am replacing the A/C compressor in my 2000 SE. Would anybody have a drawing or diagram or even be able to describe where the A/C Expansion Valve (I believe it is also called Thermo Expansion Valve) is located? I can't find it and have a replacement along with the Air Dryer and Compressor.

Thank you!!

Mayo

It should be located inside the evaporator housing inside the car. The freon lines should connect to it through your firewall. That's where most Nissan expansion valves are as far as I've seen.

I've never done A/C work on the Maxima but just did the condensor/dryer and expansion valve on my CRX but this should give you an idea.

Usually it is located with the evaporator. That piece is on the passenger side behind the dash. If you follow the big and small A/C pipes through the firewall the evaporator is on the other side. It's enclosed in a plastic case. Also the drain tube is connected to this case. The expansion valve look like a little tube with two long skinny metal tubings running out of it.

You would have to undo the nut for the two pipes from inside the engine compartment. Then you need to Remove the dash and then loosen the compartment the evaporator sits in and it will come out.
