That new turbo kit w/ the small turbo...

Who is selling that new turo kit w/ the smaller T28 turbo, intercooled, injectors, no relating of anything?

I have it because I helped prototype it for a Taiwan company.. I couldn't pursue the project so someone else is selling it, I'm not sure who..

Anyway, I have the kit and it still needs to be tuned. I'm only running 3PSI right now... I was thinking of installing a manual boost controller by myself but was wondering if someone could tell me how to install one.

This is the boost controller that I bought.

Can I use this as a general guideline to install the boost controller?

Before I get asked, I didn't want boost, did it to prototype the turbo. Spent so much on the kit, I wanna spend as little as possible to get it running to its full potential safely.

Thank you.

cut the line going into the wastegate actuator and install the controller by hooking both ends of the lines to the respective nipples on the mbc - it is directional so make sure you put it in the correct way.

That's all it takes? What about the "To Atmosphere" side, I read somewhere about that going to the blow off valve side... I have a boost gauge and blow off valve if that is a consideration.

Thank you.

Can I assume that I can just do what densetsu said and not do the "to atmosphere" method?

I'm sorry but I'm still very confused by those two links. Especially your thread

So I would take the hose off the turbo, attach that to the MBC, and from the other side of the MBC, go to the line that's connected to my BOV, and plug up the hole on the turbo?

Honestly, if you are really having that much trouble installing a MBC, you may want to have a shop help you. That being said, hopefully a very brief overview would help?

Your wastegate controls boost, by only allowing the required amount of exhaust to pass through the turbine. It receives "signal" when to open the exhaust vent - preventing that exhaust from spooling the turbo any more - from a vacuum line. The idea with your manual boost controller is to trick the wastegate. The MBC lowers the pressure that the wastegate sees, making it think you are not at "full boost"

Hopefully that will help you to understand what you need to do. Here are the basics to install:

1. Locate vacuum line going to your waste gate
2. Cut vacuum line
3. Insert MBC into vacuum line, attaching both ends which you just created by cutting, and secure it.
4. Dial in desired boost
* Be careful to make sure you have the MBC flowing the proper direction
* MBC's are crazy. Watch your boost closely!!

Thank you for the install tips. I think I will do it that way.

I'm not having problems with the installation, at least not yet. I just needed advice on how to install it to see if it was something that I can tackle. There seems to be two ways to install them and I just wanted to find the best way to do it.

there is only one way to do it, both what hal and i said are the same exact thing. the install should not take more than five minutes even if you dont know what you are doing at all. it requires a cut on a hose, the tightening of two clamps, and setting your boost. very simple install - less complicated than an intake.

Bags' post implies taking the hose to the BOV, not just splicing into that hose.

I will try your way and see what happens.

Thanks again.

It all depends on YOUR setup. My WG is tapped into my BOV, Boost gauge, Manifold, FMU and I think that's it. Again, YOUR setup depends what ELSE is attached.

But HAL said it best. I'll say it another way, 3 inches from your wastegate, cut the vaccum line, intstall MBC. The line you cut now has 2 ends. The MBC should have 2 spots to put a vaccum/boost line.
