Fumoto Valve?

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts/experience with a Fumoto valve to replace the drain plug for oil changes. I heard it makes life much easier for oil changes but I wanted to know if anyone else with a 5Gen has any input on this.

Their URL is http://www.fumotovalve.com/.

Additionally, if someone has this on their 5Gen Max, what size/specs filter are you using?

If there's already been a thread for this, could someone post it here for me?

Thanks for any feedback y'all can give....

Yeah, I agree, its a good idea.... I've heard all good things about the Fumoto but not from anyone who owns a Max, so I just thought I'd check to see. I was also hoping to get a better idea for which size valve works.

Fram Drain Valve

I don't have a Fumato, but do have a Fram drain valve on my 2002. It's a model SD3 and costs less than the Fumato. It's also available at WalMart($10). It works very well but you have to make sure not to lose the drain fitting and hose.

The problem with the Fram is that there's a portion of the valve that goes inside the engine block which doesn't allow all the oil to drain properly. I'm sure its not a *big* deal, but something to think about.

I have the Fram SD3 on my '03, as well. Works wonders and makes it easier to change the oil when it's hot to ensure it drains quicker and more efficiently.

Great pickup for ~$11.

For $11 that is good.... but do you encounter the same problem max5spd did?

I had noticed that when I bought the part. But, to combat it, I just trimmed down the threaded part that goes up into the oil pan. I would assume that it's much closer, if not level with the bottom of the pan now.

Ah... i see... so its been a good investment huh? No leakage or anything? I might look into it... I mean, for $11 bucks at Walmart, its worth a shot.

I think I am going to try this as I am always changing my oil and sometimes the oil drain plug gets too tight or the oil is too hot.

On the site I guess we have to use this one: (Mine"Nissan Maxima 2003")

Nissan
Maxima('85 & on), Stanza Wagon('86 & on)

Please choose from one of the following products:

F103
F103 N(w/Nipple)

I've had no leaking problems thus far, and it made the first oil change with it go very smoothly.

It's also nice that it comes with the copper gasket and that it's not something you have to track down and purchase every time you change the oil anymore.

I just did an oil change this weekend and I got the hot oil on my hand. I was wearing surgical gloves when doing it, but it's still messy.

I'm definitely going to buy the one with the nipple. I have a Nissan 03 Se and I am lowering the car too with JIC's. But looking at the angle of the oil bolt, even if we lowered our cars, we can use the one with the nipple.
