When did your Coil Packs go Bad?

I've been hearing about all the bad coil packs going out on 99 Maxes. Just need to know when your coils went out? How many miles where on your 99 Max?

im just changing mine now. 63,000 miles does it do any damage to unplug one and drive, to single out one coil pack?

I had 3 go between 30-35,000 miles. Replaced under warranty. No issues now through 73,000 miles.

I bought my max at 54k. Just turned 95k today without ever checking the coils. Am I right that Mitsubishi models are the ones to have?

Is this primarly a 99 problem, or do other years really get affected by it? 2 guys who I know who were forced to replace their coils also owned 99's.

Did you have a code or something? Haven't heard of a 96 having coil problems with such low mileage.

all 95-99 2000 maybe are effected. they just go bad because of all the heat, the heat will make the internals bad. mine i replaced at 107k. Stock ones on mine were Mitsubishi ones. i guess 99's come with Hanshi ones.

no silly. Mitsubitshi makes our ignition coils. you would just get them at a dealership.

Bought the car at 129000. Got a misfire code for cylinder 1. Had three nissan coils at the back and two hanshin and one mitsubishi in the front.
Decided to do a full tune-up and bought 6 new mitsubishi coils (jerry rome), 6 ngk plugs (napa) and KS (jerry rome).
Now at 142000 and running strong.

Well my first coil went out #1 cylinder. Mileage is at 113k. I had to replace it from the Stealer at $101 and all they had was Hanskin. I'm going to replace the rest with Mitsubishi coils. Is mixing them bad? I can afford the new ones, but wonder if used Mitsubishi would be smarter!!

They do list for 90-94, if you got them for less than 60 each, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that's not 12% off.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for instructions for replacing a coil? Had a cyl 1 misfire and autozone suggested replacing that coil and go from there. From the looks of this thread looks like thats a good start. Should I go ahead and replace all 6 now?
