lumbar support on '99 SE-L? /brake question
Hi guys,
As of just about two and a half days ago I became the proud and ecstatic owner of a beautiful automatic Pearl 99 SE-L. Have been looking for a Maxima for a LONG time and we finally found this one, in superb shape, 80k miles, ready to go. As you can imagine I'm insanely pleased to join your ranks.
I've looked through the forum and haven't found anything about this one, so..
I've been getting myself acquainted with the gizmos on the car and last night attempted to learn about the seats. There is a lumbar support on the driver's side, and the manual instructs you how to use it - it's a handle. It seems a little loose, i.e. when I set it upright it tends to flop back down. There's a screw there and I think I should probably be able to tighten it without any trouble, but does anyone with the 99 Max (or heck, any of 'em if it's the same on all) know if it should be loose like that? I didn't feel any change in the chair when I fiddled with it, lumbar or not.
Another minor one: the brakes don't quite "squeak" when I hit the breaks a certain way - it's more like a whine. The brakes work just fine and I've found that it only seems to happen when I press lightly on them... once I step down more it goes away. My father has a '93 or '92 Z that as I recall makes a similar noise; he thinks it's the disc brakes. I can't hear them if I have my music going but I'm wondering about it. Do they always make this noise or are my brake pads getting worn? Brake fluid level is fine, BTW, checked that first out.
I go back to school in two weeks so I may get the car a thorough check-out just to make sure (500 miles of freeway...). Aside from those two questions I have had nothing but happiness the past couple days. Really am enjoying this car and hope to keep her around for a long, long time. I'm glad I found the forum, too!

The lumbar support lever screw mighe need tightened. At worst you might have to buy a new lever at the Dealer. I did, mine was striped. It will take a week ans about 6 dollars. In the middle position it will snap back at times. I keep mine all the way down, (lever pointing to the floor)it is better on my back and it doesn't snap back
