Guage Cluster question???

If you have a NON DIGITAL ODOMITER in your car, can you put in a guage cluster that has a DIGITAL ODOMITER in your car and WILL IT WORK?

Thanks

I HIGHLY doubt it, since your 96 was only programmed to roll the analog numbers instead of give a digital readout...

Why, are you thinking of swapping the LED bulbs into the 95-97?

The 98 digi gauges in a 96 Max

You need to cut and splice all the wires to get it to work. Also its a good idea to recalibrate the gauges to the exact mileage in case you ever sell the car.

How do you recalibrate the guages? Can I take the car to the dealer to get this done and if so, how much does it cost?

ALSO, If I purchase the digital guage cluster, could I take out the individual guages MINUS the ODOMITOR GUAGE and put them in my existing cluster? Basically buy the guage cluster for parts to replace my fuel, RPM, and temperature guage???

The 194 bulb conversion is in the 4th gen how-to's, the link to get the gauge cluster out is http://www.geocities.com/amixam69/ni...ash/index.html
The link to put the new LED bulbs in is http://www.richardjasaitis.com/MaximaDash.htm
These are VERY helpful...

Also, about your mileage transfer from one odometer to another, I replaced my gauge cluster with the SE gauge cluster about a month ago, and I love it, but my local Nissan dealership said they couldn't legally roll the odometer back, so now I have about 50,000 more miles on my odometer. What I did was, as I was replacing the cluster, I took a digital picture of both of the clusters together with the mileage on both and kept my old cluster, just in case I sell my max in the future... This way I can show the buyer that there are 50,000 miles less than what the current SE odometer says

All I need is a like on how to convert my 98 cluster to 194 bulb size which I couldn't find in the How-to, if you know where it's located, please post a like. Thank you for the rest of those links, although I've take out my cluster bunch of time in the past. Help me out buddy by posting the link if you know where it is.

Why not just get some LED bulbs, that should take care of your problem.

Nope can't be done that way, the 95~97 and 98~99 gauges have different patterns to attach to the flexi circuit behind it.

194 conversion on a 98 Maxima

Scroll to the bottom for the write-up I used for the conversion. Just be careful when you solder the bulbs. I had to sand down the legs of the bulbs to get to some solderable material. Also use soldering flux to make it easier when you do solder the bulbs to the flex circuit. Another thing try not to melt the flex pads and plastic case, you gotta solder them quickly.
