Hacked STS --> PICS Inside!

hey guys,
i decided to hack a few inchs off my sts. Can out pretty nice i think. I need to order some redline mt 90 becuase i dont think mine has every been changed. Its a tad notchier but with the mt 90 i think it should be a lot smoother.

Let me know what you guys think.

Sean

unless you're tall or have long arms, you must have a hell of a time reaching down for that. **** looks good, but def. a little too short IMO.

I like the look. Is the e-brake ever in the way when you are shifting?

well it was an ebay shifter. I had to cut it that short or about 2 inchs higher. There was a metal lip on the shifter that i had to cut below or about 2 inchs about so my shift **** would fit on. I do have long arms so its not a prob

Actually, you must be kind of short, because tall people (like me) have to sit far enough back from the steering wheel( because of long legs) that even with long arms, I would have a hard time reaching that with comfort.

I think it is too short for the application of the Maxima.
I mean, in a Corvette, it fits, but you are laying down, and the shifter is right by your arm. In other sports cars, it is the same way. The Maxima just sits up too straight, because it is a sedan, for this to be that good.

It does look pretty good though.

Way to short for me and Im 6' 1" and I have aftermarket seats which put you a little lower anyway. And I have the sts and with it at about 25% away from being all the way down and to the shortest possible setting. Its kinda short so for me I would say there is no way I would do this. Can you actually drive like that. Is it hard to shift. Good luck with that. I see you getting annoyed with that in a month and then having to buy a new sts.

Well, like you said, if you like it, that's all that matters!

I'm with the rest of the guys here, I think it's a little short (that must be one SHORT throw!), but hey, props for doing it at all...

mine sits alittle higher then yours, just a hair or two, the shift **** i have in the picture is decieving. i actually have a ball type now and its only a 1/4-1/2 inch higher then yours, i switched to a counterweighted shift ****. makes shifting smooth as butter. nice work, i know that notch does get in the way huh?

p.s.- my e-brake doesnt get in the way because i drive with it up...

NO it does look good matter of fact I think it would be that hard to drive but I know how my sts feels and the shorter I make it the harder and notchy it gets but then again you didnt adjust it you just cut it down so I guess it might not be as bad as I think but it does look cool.

I think total it was like 3.4-4 inchs. I would have cut off less but there was a notch that was part of the shifter that i had to cut below or the shift **** wouldnt fit over.

The little bump is actually a lip that goes around the shifter to hold the boot up. That lip, if needed to be, can be either grinded or filed down. No biggie.

I agree its too short. I have a Pacesetter at its lowest/shortest setting. Any lower is too low. But if you like it........

Hey thanks for the info. By the way I dont think the throw isnt short enough just the height. I still feel like my arm is up off my arm rest when Im cruzing. But yeah to each is own.
