Man. I bought one of those a while back and mine started to peel too. Then it was all cool-chrome looking then the metal started to peel in certain places, cutting my hand as I was driving and It took me a few days to realize I was comitting suicide when I drove. Finally I just took all of the crap off so now I have a black **** to shift wit. Waste of money.

You need to do more than get rid of your stock shifter Maximan190, like clean your car and put it back together!

It feels ok. I know it probly isn't as smooth at the Stillen, but for the difference in cost I don't mind it. The trick it to replace the rubber shifter bracket thingy because the throws are more forcefull (mine is worn). Also, don't tighten down the nuts that hold the ball in extremely tight -- just semi-tight. That will reduce some of the extreme notchiness that people complain about. Now that I've put Redline MT-90 in the tranny, shifts are very reasonable and the shorter throw and height is nice.

I've never researched them, aside from the stillen which is $$$$$$$$

I got mine from helping a friend pull the engine out of his old maxipad

now I must go, because Fedex just arrived and I think they have my y-pipe. If they dont, WSP is getting a phone call

Thanks Brad.

I found that the AE was more difficult to shift into 1st gear. Not sure if it was only on my car, but the somewhat heavier than our stock RX8 seemed to remedy the problem.
