More info needed on the factory spoiler's connection...
There was a thread about this started by Netfury or something, but instead of bringing back a dead thread, I opted to start a new one. My spoiler probably got ripped off too, and I can't figure out how it's connected, or how to take it off to inspect. My left side is completely unattached, and the only thing holding the left/middle part down is the third brake light wires. How do I secure this? Maybe I didn't look where I needed to, but when I opened my trunk, I couldn't figure out how to expose the bolts. Please shead some light on all this stuff...a more detailed "walkthrough" would be great. Thanks a lot everybody.

the outer post have plastic clips and grommets that fit into the trunk. clips and grommets are dealer items. the inner posts have screws molded into the plastic. then they are bolted from the inner side of the trunk. 10mm deep socket and ratchet will do the trick. you spoiler sounds broken. I got some JB weld, new bolts, washers, and nutts and fixed it the best i could. Had to buy the clips and grommets too. very expensive IMO.

this is good info...thanks. So by broken, you mean beyond repair? Or do you think that with the stuff you listed I'd be able to secure it? Again, thanks for the reply.
fixed
Hey. Just fixed this yesterday. To reiterate, the two center pillars are bolted down and the outers are plugged in with big plastic grommets. The grommets on the left are what broke but were still plugged in to the trunk.
to fix: I got the grommets out and put a common wood screw through the center of each. There's a slide connection on the spoiler, sort of like a picture frame (not sure how better to describe it). The diameter of the screw head is bigger than the narrow opening so it holds it secure. Just plugged it all back in and bolted it down. works well.
A better solution would have been to pick up new grommets from nissan, but it was 7pm, I already had it apart, and was too impatient to wait until today.

Ok people...I just got in from taking a better look at the spoiler (I took off the plastic/insulation piece on the upper part of the trunk, and found where I could screw it. My spoiler is not connected by the two grommets on the left side pillar, and the top of the screws on the left-middle pillar are exposed...I need to get the spoiler off to get a closer look, but is it going to be possible to just "tighten" these screws to hold it? I'm sorry if I sound stupid, I just want to do it right...I'll probably opt to get new grommets for my spoiler, we'll see. Thanks for the help.
Seefu: there are no outer bolts, just plastic clips and grommets like i said. Its a ball and socket type of joint essentailly.
Biglou: Both of my outer posts were compleatly disconnected from the trunk. Only the 2 inner posts were holding the spoiler to the trunk. The clips that slide into the spoiler broke and I had to get new ones. $5 each, ya need 4!
If they have not come apart yet thay can be a biatch to get apart. When i reinstalled mine I could not pull the spoiler back off. The outer clips hold well when they arent broken.
here is a pic of the holes, sorrys its not a close up, but you can see the outer holes are huge. A plastic grommet fits into it.
maybe i have a better pic on my hard drive

good, I guess after i finish my engine work i will go ahead and buy the clips for the spoiler too. mine are also only held by the 2 inners.

ok so only the grommets on the edges were loose for you...it seems like I'm in a different situation then. I really hope I can reuse my spoiler. Again, thanks for the help, I was stumped. When I figure out if I'm keeping the car definately (whole different story) I'll take it off to see what I got. Thanks.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/guinader you can see the places where the metal bolt go and where the plastic one go.
