automatic, rattls/knocks shifter in revers...
When i put my car in revers, the shift lever seems to have a metal rattle sound, when its in any other position it goes away...could the linkage connecting the lever at the bottom to the tranny be loose? if i hold it in between R and N but still in reverse it goes away, seems when tension is on the lever toward P or N it goes away...almost sounds like maybe its rubbing on the heat shield from my exhaust?

fixed the problem....it turns out there is a washer where the bottom of the lever connects with the thing that leads to the tranny...right underneath the heatshield on the cat converter....i took it off...put a few washers on it, and tightened it up....i also fixed the problem of the shifter being touchy around D...sometimes you would have move it barely towards 2 to get it to kick in from neutral
