mounting door speakers directly to MDF

quick question.. i took off my door panels the other day and was upgrading my wiring with someone and he was saying that it may be hurting my sound output by putting a spacer ring in between my door speaker and the MDF speaker mount that im using. should i just remove the plastic spacer and put it flush against it? window clearance isnt a problem either, it has plenty of room either way.

I don't think having spacers in will effect the SQ of the speakers. I do know first hand that using these makes a noticable improvement in SQ though.

If window clearance isn't a problem I'm not sure why you would have it in there. I would ditch it and seal the speaker directly to the MDF. It might help with the SQ...only way to be sure is to try it.
